You only get money for the first 10 rounds though and if you pay anyone from round 11+ more than 100k, it goes from your pool. So the only way you can pull it off is if you sign people from first 10 rounds to below slot value. If it was possible to offer players up to 500k, they would be more likely to sign than go to college. Those that are already at college will probably sign because they know if at college they were drafted so low, it won't be any better next year. -

So the only way to "play" the system is take people higher than they should and sign him for lower and then have extra money for lower guys with high ceiling. Then again, it doesn't really give you anything since it might make more sense to actually get the best guys and pay them slot value and be done with it, chances are the lower guys won't make it anyway. -

So if we don't sign our pick like Bickford, we can't use his slot money to pay for other draftees? I thought that plan was to not sign Bickford, get an extra pick next year, and use the money this year to buy high ceiling guys who slipped through the draft. -

The funny part is reading O's forum saying how we swept them cause Bautista is a cheater so therefore the whole team is doing PED while at the same time not a single word about Davis.

Thing is, this offseason we got 5 position players that suppose to be contact hitters and no power hitters, yet our OBP still sucks. So to me it seems there is a much deeper problem that we can't see.

Do you suggest that the coaches are telling the players not to get on base but to just hit the fences? I'm no expert but i kinda doubt it.

Only "complain" about Buck that he sometimes calls HIGH LEFT FIELD.... out. Gets me all pumped up off my sofa thinking we hit a homerun and then bust.

We should really be aiming at home grown rather than trade everyone, it's the most cost effective and best way to stay at the top level. Just make sure we spend enough money on coaches to give them the best possible chance.

Sometimes they need a new direction, i'm sure if we give him some time the club will be able to get a better idea of him. No risk situation for us.

I actually like him even though he does make mistakes. I sometimes watch other games like the Dodgers last night and you can fall asleep from their commentator. The guy speaks so slow like it's a golf game.

Texas wasn't hitting but as soon as we left they won like 5-6 straight. More like they were trying to hit our pitchers so hard that when they saw someone else it became easy for them. Rockies were well above 500 when they came to Toronto and Baltimore are very good.

The guys on the Red Sox forum think there is a good chance for heavy rain... Anyway, no Lind today, day off maybe?

Maybe they think that when he's healthy he's only slightly faster/better so no need to do that. I just hope that now that he doesn't leadoff or play LF, he will get better.
