  1. You're comparing Goins to Thames, i say it's as meaningless as comparing Goins to Kalfus.
  2. Sure it does, i compared their first year in A- ball.
  3. My point is that you can play the stats game in many different ways, if Goins is an org guy then so is Kalfus, at this time it's impossible to prove otherwise.
  4. Goins at A- back in 2009 had 114 wRC+, avg .297, obp .349 and babip .385 Kalfus at A- this year had 111 wRC+, avg .272, obp .354 and babip .345
  5. I could say the same thing about Kalfus.
  6. theblujay i think summed it up pretty nicely about 5 pages or so back, the only difference between everyone here is that half wants him given a chance while the other half think they know what they have in Goins and move on.
  7. I don't know what you guys want with Goins, right now we have 2 starting pitchers, a big question mark at C, LF and 2B. I personally don't think AA can address everything specially after we gave up so many prospects last off season. Right now, i feel the most comfortable with leaving Goins at 2B and address the other positions knowing that he will supply the defense. I'm not comparing him to McCoy because i think Goins is a better hitter (not saying he's a good hitter or anything).
  8. See Mr. Smackme, my logic isn't as flawed as you might believe. Good defense, not bad hitting with good approach and FREE is a lot better than 10mil Izturis and prospects for Bonifacio.
  9. Ricky Romero 2.0?
  10. I agree, it's between Goins and Kawasaki right now.
  11. Even if Izturis or anyone else comes back, unless Goins is seriously terrible offensively, i don't see why he would be replaced. If Goins can get .250 he should play next season unless we are able to get Cano or someone similar which isn't likely.
  12. He will be even more fragile than Morrow. I hope he proves me wrong though. I get the feeling that AA is working on pitchers depth, keep all the guys that suppose to come back from injury at Buffalo and then when our starters go down, we have lots of good arms to call upon.
  13. I said it's reasonable and gave a reason for it because the way he answered me showed me that maybe he didn't understand me. I understand that it's a common theme here (and the old forum) to call everyone you disagree with stupid but you (or anyone else who does that) shouldn't dis other people just because they don't agree with them. Everyone should be able to lay their ideas and thoughts on the table without name calling by others.
  14. That's a very reasonable claim i made, Bonifacio/Izturis were a huge minus and you get someone with above average D at that position, i'm pretty sure we could have been 5 games better off. Doesn't mean he would have had 5 WAR or something like that.
  15. Reported.
  16. I don't know about you guys but i really like Goins. I feel like if we had Goins in April we would probably be 5 games better off just on defense alone. For example, the game ending play he made tonight, in April when it was Bonifacio over there, same play would have been scored a single cause there is not way Boni would be able to make it. With Goins at 2B, that's an out and game over.
  17. I guess he suppose to be DH but he's not a very good one...
  18. Probably but doesn't mean he's going to be a world class all of a sudden.
  19. Boni played 3B today, has gone 0-4 with 1k, so not quite sure he's a gem yet.
  20. Probably the same way Fielder can hit a triple, max hassle every time.
  21. Ill probably stick to hope and pray.
  22. Imagine if he was one of our prospects and someone would post his stats for the game: 5.2IN 3H 4BB 7SO 2ER. Pretty good numbers right there.
  23. It's pretty cool if we announce our picks one after the other.
  24. When did Pillar prove that he can't play at this level? The only thing he was able to prove is that he can adjust to the pitchers rather quickly. I'm pretty sure he's hitting over .300 since his first hit.
  25. Let the kid play, right now he gives everything and so far (6 games) has done well both on offense and defense. Will he be a starter? Will he be AAAA level or will he just wash out? We don't know unless he plays in the major league. It happens a lot that players don't do well in a specific level in the minors do well in the majors, so who knows, give the kid a chance.
