Well it's two things. If the team is good enough, it doesn't really matter if one of your players sits out a number of games for injury prevention, teams are already doing this to their own star players albeit to a lesser extent. But to touch on your second point, the Raptors are doing everything possible to get him to re-sign in the offseason, so if that takes a bit of ass kissing and allowing him to sit out a bunch of games so that he's content and well rested for the playoffs then so be it.
