  1. I’ve slept on it and woken up with a refreshed view on Nimmala. I think the industry is arguably overrating him, the contact ability is very concerning and the power hasn’t even been showing up recently. Do we even know he’s actually a good SS or is that just scouts as usual not having any idea? You were right Olerud.
  2. If we’re saying Bateman has 40 power that actually seems not horrible lol. I doubt it, but if he’s really a 55 hit, 40 power, 60 run, 55 fielding with a 55 arm you can squint and see a real player there. Realistically it’s probably more like 30 power with a half grade down on defense, which is a lot less sexy.
  3. I saw an updated scouting report which has him at 5'9 which is MASSIVE. That takes you from runt territory to like, Cedanne Rafaela?
  4. I'm like 30% sure Bateman is the starting CF for the team either immediately after the trade deadline (bye Varsho) or by September when they don't care about Varsho anyway.
  5. I don't think the Yankees are planning for Stanton to be reasonably healthy at any point this season. Goldschmidt and Garcia Jr. will platoon 1B/ DH. Rice will play every day. If Judge comes back and has to DH for a week or so, they might just play Garcia Jr. in like 2B or 3B and hope for the best. Not like they're known for their defense as things stand.
  6. I mean of course he could totally bust, that's a risk on all of them. At least to me there's positive trend with the contact rate and K rate improving slightly year to year, despite him generally not repeating a level. I'm just saying that his progression, the seeming ability to stick at SS, and legit power, makes him more intriguing than publications like fangraphs have him at. TJStats has him as #22 and a 55 FV for what it's worth, while Rainer is #40 and a 50 FV. But he's just a guy - who might have Jays bias - and the public industry consensus is to flip these two guys. That's all I'm saying.
  7. Wouldn't hate that at all as an outcome.
  8. Nimmala is more advanced than both at the same ages. Rainer spent his age 19 season in A ball, and has a 35% K rate in A+ as a 20 year old. Parker is 19 (turns 20 in a week) and is tracking for a cup of coffee in A+. Nimmala has been pushed more aggressively than both - a sign of a more advanced prospect - and has both performed and improved in certain facets like K rate and contact rate. I'd argue he's closer to tracking like Bo Bichette (full season AA ball at 20 years old) than he is to Bryce Rainer. I'm not saying he'll have an outcome like Bichette and the tools aren't equivalent, but to me he's closer to that 55 FV/60 FV ish tier and wouldn't trade him for Rainer 1 for 1 with the information I have.
  9. The Nimmala rankings really don’t add up to me entirely. 20 years old in AA and more than handling his own, seems like he can stick defensively at SS, has legit power, projectable frame, and has cut down his K rate with more reps. I’m just gonna say it. If his name was Woody Williams there’s no chance he’s ranked below someone like Bryce Rainer.
  10. O'Hoppe is basically a salary dump lol. This trade is really just Silseth who is an okay, run of the mill decent reliever, for the random lottery ticket.
  11. If you take away the god awful defense, terrible baserunning, and declining horrendous offense, O'Hoppe might be a decent reclamation project.
  12. To be fair the strikeouts have been there so he wasn't wrong on that part.
  13. It was of course Jonn
  14. It's simply unsustainable to increase your velo in your 30s. Yimi went from averaging 94 in his 20s to 96 while topping out at 99 in his 30s. Same thing happened to deGrom, the body can't handle that increased torque and stress on the joints especially when you're past your physical prime.
  15. Tatsuya Imai doesn’t make it out of the first inning for the third time this season. 4 walks, 12 out of 33 pitches for strikes. Dude f***ing blows.
  16. So much discussion about Kirk being an issue when he's still sitting at 0.8 WAR in only 34 games despite a thumb injury and his worst offensive showing by a wide margin. Don't know where people are getting this illusion that he's not still one of the best defenders in baseball, he's still only 27 years old and signed until his age 31 season, well before his impending bad body breakdown of doom that everyone is always afraid of happens. Obviously the bat hasn't quite been there, but hand/wrist injuries can be annoying to come back from during the season. He should get back to his league average to slightly above ways next season. For what it's worth, all 3 Molina brothers played until their mid to late 30s and never saw their defense decline. Bengie who's the most comparable to Kirk body wise was basically the same player his whole career.
  17. Don Mattingly has never won anything in his life lol. He was embarrassed out of town with the Dodgers and Marlins, and yes now that he gets to be a reverse nepo baby in Philly he was the winning force behind the 2025 Blue Jays all along, lol.
  18. Your statement is definitely true, but with how he's trending it would basically seem disappointing if barring injury he didn't at least play AAA ball by mid to end of next season. He's that exciting of a prospect to me.
  19. The Cubs have had Kevin Alcantara ride the pine any time he's been up with the MLB club. He would be a decent target: big time power, hit tool risk, presumably might be able to play CF or at least is young enough that you might as well let him try.
  20. If Vlad doesn't remember how to hit we might be irredeemably f***ed lol. A $500M 1B who doesn't hit is a franchise breaking type of anchor. Even Pujols was cranking 20+ HR when he fully lost his legs, prime Vlad can't even crack .100 ISO jfc.
  21. Man what the hell are you on about? They quite literally replaced one with the other in the lineup. Bo has been mediocre for the Mets, Okamoto has provided plenty of protection. The lineup is garbage because Vlad, Kirk and Springer turned into pumpkins and the rest of the lineup (Gimenez, Varsho, Sanchez, etc.) hasn't done much to make up for it. Bo Bichette replacing Okamoto to date would have made the offense even worse, unless he has magical inspiration and hitting coach qualities.
  22. Seth Halvorsen with his 100 mph avg fastball and elite slider is going to be a problem in any other org that isn't the Rockies. Unfortunately a good pickup for the Dodgers.
  23. Cruz would be an interesting acquisition. His defense is going to be very frustrating unless there's hope that he can turn it around with more reps. Where's Kevin Kiermaier outfield coach when you need him? Probably have to accept that he's going to be an uber talented, high variance 2-3 WAR guy. Basically a bizarro Varsho / Vlad combination.
  24. This deal doesn't really make much sense for either team for the most part, but sign me up for a 40 FV prospect who has performed in his early pro career for a rental of 35 year old Tommy Nance. The Jays during the Atkins tenure have been catcher whisperers, so pretty satisfied with this acquisition, however inconsequential it likely ends up being.
