For what it's worth, his average EV last season 91.2 mph, right around his career average, and still ranked well relative to the rest of the league. It's down this year, which could be concerning but it's also hard to say if EV takes longer to stabilize or Machado is simply going through a bit of a slump in a short season which accentuates it. I will agree that his Statcast numbers haven't been nearly as good as his early career or 2018 seasons, but he was still crushing the ball in 2017, his xWOBA that season was almost 50 points higher than his actual. I don't think Machado at 28 has declined to the point where he's no longer the hitter he used to be, although it's possible his batted ball profile makes it so that defenses can position him much better than other players and we all know he has a serious problem with hustling which can't help him at all.
