  1. That's his third would-be double that ends up as a long single. This is the one aspect where him simply being in better shape would make his performance stand out more even if nothing else changed (and should change of course).
  2. Espinal is looking a lot less useless at the plate the last couple of games. Nice swing there to drive in a run.
  3. Another Guerrero liner that he isn't able to turn into two bases. It's kind of funny and sad that as bad as he has looked at the plate at times he's also been unlucky I guess. But if he's in better shape that has to be two bases easily.
  4. Howard had some awful calls against him in the first inning too, but then got every outside pitch and more in the second inning. This umpire is terrible at calling balls and strikes.
  5. Yeah pretty hard to have a good outing when you're making excellent pitches and the umpire gives you nothing. Anderson is getting screwed over badly. When I said he's all over the corners I meant that as a compliment.
  6. Well Anderson can't buy a f***ing call out there. He's all over the corners.
  7. That was a curveball down the middle wtf.
  8. That was Panik.
  9. Shaw seems to have issue when the fastball is elevated, he seems to swing through it a lot. Maybe it's a guessing thing as I'm sure he's capable of catching up to it.
  10. His foot looks to be off the base for me. Is this not a play we can challenge?
  11. This ump is killing Spencer Howard. That's two perfect pitches that didn't go his way.
  12. Biggio sees a bunch of fastballs in a row and still manages to sit back on the changeup and drive it into the hole. His approach is just the best.
  13. I love Bryce Harper. That homerun was sick.
  14. For what it's worth, his average EV last season 91.2 mph, right around his career average, and still ranked well relative to the rest of the league. It's down this year, which could be concerning but it's also hard to say if EV takes longer to stabilize or Machado is simply going through a bit of a slump in a short season which accentuates it. I will agree that his Statcast numbers haven't been nearly as good as his early career or 2018 seasons, but he was still crushing the ball in 2017, his xWOBA that season was almost 50 points higher than his actual. I don't think Machado at 28 has declined to the point where he's no longer the hitter he used to be, although it's possible his batted ball profile makes it so that defenses can position him much better than other players and we all know he has a serious problem with hustling which can't help him at all.
  15. And as usual you're piling on Jim for no reason other than to be an *******. He is making a valid claim, Machado is very likely not just a barely above average hitter, the underlying stats behind his performance and his career numbers to date indicate as much.
  16. His xWOBA is .364 compared to his actual wOBA of .302. He's getting extremely unlucky, which can happen when the sample size is small and there's more room for variance. His true talent is likely somewhere in between his 2018 and 2019 seasons - good power, decent but not significant amount of walks, good but not great strikeout rate.
  17. What the f*** does being a man of faith have to do with anything lmao.
  18. Good riddance. He's a curmudgeonly old man who probably agrees with the unwritten rule BS that the Rangers whined about.
  19. Craig Kimbrel, for the first time in a while, looked unhittable. All it took was a bit of fastball command and he just lets his filthy stuff do the rest of the work.
  20. Pache in LF lol.
  21. Is that a Chris Smoove reference?
  22. He just broke an unwritten rule! My feelings are hurt.
  23. I know it's still a save opportunity or whatever, but with a relatively comfortable lead against an awful team I would have liked seeing Merryweather make his debut here, and save Dolis for a high leverage situation tomorrow if we believe he's a high leverage guy. Also would have been fine with Hatch finishing the game since he was cruising.
