In this trade involving Alec Bohm, Jo Adell, Ian Anderson (including all these names as keywords if we need to search for it later), connorp is also sending a 2022 1st our way in exchange for a 2022 4th.
Dwight Smith Jr. has no positive qualities. He's a below average hitter, a brutal defender and an average at best runner. At least Alford has one or two positives going for him, although his bat might be really really bad.
Feel bad for Alford because of all the injuries and he seems like a genuinely good guy. Hopefully he latches on to a team outside the division like Oakland or something and establishes himself at least as a viable 4th OF/pinch runner option.
Considering we acquired him injured, and hasn't pitched for two seasons, it's probably a pipe dream for him to be a starter going forward. Might as well just try him out as an elite multi-inning reliever.
