Yeah but the ball was in the air long enough that I think that someone in average shape at least has to attempt going to second. Hell Shaw took a riskier gamble yesterday on a single to RF and he still almost made it. I'm being nitpicky, I loved everything about the swing, just venting frustration.

That's another part where his conditioning really hurts that much more. Last season or ST Vlad could have gotten to second there, so he limits his own production by being out of shape. Nice swing though. That's back to back line drives to the outfield.

It's not often you feel comfortable with 2nd and 3rd no outs from the first two hitters of the game, with Roark throwing junk and missing all over, but if there's a team that can surely mess that up in a variety of ways it's the Orioles.

Rio Ruiz gets a 3-0 green light, misses a fastball down the middle, takes a hittable fastball, misses another fastball down the middle for the K. It's gonna be hard to top such elite tanking tactics.

I don't understand why it's so hard for you guys to understand that he has zero command of the fastball. He got cold after the long inning and was missing all over the place again, so he goes to the breaking ball which he has a bit more feel for. He was becoming visibly frustrated with his fastball misses and threw one as slow as 93 in order to get one in for a strike, and still missed. Pearson throwing fastballs all over the place at 93-94 isn't going to help his development.

You can tell his arm is cold again. Came out missing with the fastball just like in the first inning and throwing 95-96. The long inning was a double-edged sword.

It's hard to believe how good Grichuk's approach at the plate is right now. Takes two borderline pitches then crushes a mistake opposite field to the wall.

Significantly better fastball command there. Missed low once but otherwise was able to effectively locate the high fastball several times.

He's only predictable because he's missing the command of his primary pitch. If Nate's fastball command was there he would be dominating, but as it stands he looks like he's only comfortable with the breaking stuff. His slider is a filthy pitch, and he's good enough to get by with only fastball-slider if it was his other pitches that he had no feel for.
