  1. Imagine not wanting three Hall of Fame level hitters in favour of slap hitters who can steal a base.
  2. It's not too late to delete this post.
  3. Vlad is just a f***ing disaster defensively. Pop ups existed at third base too, he had to take two steps to his right.
  4. I wouldn't be opposed to that at a reasonable price, but I don't think JBJ is signing to a reasonable contract if he's going to be a bench player. His obvious comp in Pillar signed to be a starter and was even traded for (lol @ the Rockies) to be a team's starter in a playoff push.
  5. Not saying we shouldn't explore an upgrade on Grichuk, but is JBJ really that guy? He's a better defender than Grichuk - 99th percentile vs 81st percentile in the latter's case, but a worse hitter so it's pretty much a wash. I don't think a league average hitter Grichuk with ~80th percentile CF defense is a bench player, he's just not necessarily a "first division regular" to use a bit of an old term, but that's probably fine? If he's a boring 2 WAR player over a full season with stretches where he carries the team offensively and others where he can't put the bat on the ball we can probably live with that. Albeit, it comes at a higher cost than most teams would pay for such a player, but not franchise crippling by any means.
  6. Slightly is an understatement, he's almost 40 points better in wOBA against and a full run better against RHH.
  7. It's just randomness in a short season with a small sample. Roark throughout his career is significantly better against RHH than LHH. He has a career 3.63 FIP against RHH and 4.71 FIP against LHH. He's just been terrible all around, even against lefties this year against whom he's been "better" he has a brutal 5.57/5.11 FIP/xFIP with a ton of walks.
  8. Vlad and Shaw have the same WAR. Vlad last season was possibly the worst defensive 3B in the league, and we know he's not any more athletic this season. It would be a disaster having him making starts at third in the playoffs.
  9. Grichuk is a very good defender. Why on earth would you DH him?
  10. You think he looks slimmer than his listed weight? Wow, that's gotta be a first.
  11. Vlad is a better fastball hitter than Gurriel. This move is certainly not based on a single game's sample size.
  12. Arencibia and Kirk could not have more dissimilar profiles, even ignoring their body types.
  13. Crazy what happens when you're not at Yankee Stadium. Weakly hit flyballs to RF actually stay in the field!
  14. Ump screwing over Biggio completely, what else is new.
  15. Kirk is a f***ing stud dude.
  16. Dude how the f*** did he call that a strike or swing?
  17. Considering Biggio took forever to get the throw off that was pretty brutal.
  18. Oh boy, here we go again with the lights. The Yankees aren't going to shut the f*** up about this until the season ends.
  19. Luke Voit's routine flyout is probably a HR in Yankee Stadium. You could see the confusion in his face when he got to first.
  20. Be that as it may, some of the errors (mental or physical) that he's made at first are simply due to the fact that he's not a good defender on the whole.
  21. Dude, he whiffed on an easy pick and seemingly doesn't have any instincts when it comes to running for a ball vs. covering first base. You don't need to be Matt Olson for the former play and after several times pulling off the latter mistake you'd think he would slowly start to learn. Some of the plays he doesn't make aren't just due to inexperience at the position, he's just not a good defender. His best attribute at first has been his arm lol.
  22. Vlad destroyed that line drive, 116 mph. It's just not his day.
  23. FFS, that went from a routine DP to a disaster.
