  1. I don't think this is a thing at all. Why would that even be a rule? Runners get deked all the time on shallow line drives/pop ups which may or may not drop. Baez was totally within his rights to do what he did, it's like you said, the 1B should have taken a couple of steps back and finished the inning. I think the run only counted once Baez reached first however, because of the force play at first. So just a horrific defensive miscue by the entire Pirates defense.
  2. This is terrific from Baez but also in contention for the worst/most braindead play of all time from the first baseman.
  3. I mean this line is hilarious but it shouldn't be surprising to anyone that a guy with a .391 OBP is rated as a very good hitter. With that OBP you basically need to have a .200 SLG to be below average.
  4. Abolish the National League.
  5. This is kind of a minor thing since pulling your starter unexpectedly always sucks, but to me King is literally the worst possible guy you could put after Kluber. He has the exact same pitches, sinker, slider, cutter, occasional changeup, and the arm angle isn't that much different. Tampa would have went with a completely different sidearm lefty and we would be completely f***ed. This is just like facing Kluber for another round or two in the lineup, pretty bad management.
  6. Matz is basically saying f*** you, hit my fastball, bet you can't.
  7. Of course Kluber gets that, not close to being a strike.
  8. Jansen has sucked ass at the plate but he's really not any worse of a hitter than McGuire, in fact he projects way better and any platoon advantage that one might have over the other is negligible anyway since Jansen is probably a better hitter regardless. McGuire's defense is not better than Jansen's, it's equal at best and Jansen knows the pitching staff a lot more since he's the everyday catcher.
  9. Meh, seems like he's just ramping up. I wouldn't be that concerned, he's probably just feeling out his arm.
  10. 135 wRC+ since 2018. 10th highest wRC+ in the MLB since 2019.
  11. The starters weren't the reason why we lost the most recent games.
  12. At least it'll keep his legs fresh so he'll continue to play a good first base so it's a worthwhile tradeoff.
  13. When people say that the hitters should just adjust their approach and the strikeouts will come down.
  14. Agreed. With that all said, I also really like this for the Brewers. Any time you can acquire a young and viable starting SS with some upside left with some years of control for two relievers who aren't yet elite and you can produce more of them is a huge win.
  15. The Rays really value cheap top tier relievers, I think we'll be seeing a lot of Feyereisen and Rasmussen over the following years.
  16. Definitely more than a shrug. Adames is a good young player and the Rays just got back two good relievers who we'll probably see turn into Nick Anderson 2.0 and 3.0 so yes we should definitely care about this.
  17. Our bottom 3 tonight is Espinal, Jansen and Davis. No s*** it feels like that.
  18. Vladdy's for sure was, with Grichuk's the OF would have had a play I think.
  19. Love how this is going, let's add a couple more.
