I just love pitchers hitting. The absolute strategy of it all. -
lol at this throw https://mlb-cuts-diamond.mlb.com/FORGE/2021/2021-05/10/20ce82b5-6cb0ea05-b2861a22-csvm-diamondx64-asset_1280x720_59_4000K.mp4 I feel bad for Khris Davis honestly. 70-80 grade power in his prime (not anymore) with a 20 arm. This throw is cartoonishly bad, it's the kind of throw you make in your dreams. I think he's had the yips in the outfield with his throwing for years now.

Two years too late, that's how soon.
-
Altuve gets to that ball anyway and with Gurriel having to get out of the way they might even have had a chance to turn 2 with Tellez running.
-
That's a textbook relay, beautiful play. Definitely helped that Maldonado was running in quicksand.
-
Trevor Rosenthal two years ago came pretty close.
-
Sorry I must have missed the 8 runs we scored yesterday and having scored 4 through 5 innings today. Or did the 9 and 10 run games in Oakland not happen either?
-
Lol

Max Scherzer sets the new Yankee Stadium record with 14 strikeouts, achieved in 7 innings. He'll be coming back out for the 8th. Where's that guy that said he was done after one poor outing?
-
Why? Sergio Romo is one of the nicest guys in the league. I'm glad we hit him around of course.
-
My bad, I'm not paying attention at all to the commentary, luckily for me.
-
That's...that's his name?
-
Grichuk having a terrific game on both ends.
-
Who else would you rather close out the game? We've been using a ton of relievers and Phelps just died.
-
Throw f***ing strikes Borucki, it's a 5 run game.
-
At first I thought that was gonna drop in front of the outfielder off the bat, then later I thought f*** it's gonna be right at him, but the ball just kept sailing. Absolutely crushed.
-
That was a piss misile from Vlad holy f***.
-
I think from the way he reacted with his arm becoming lame immediately it looked to me like it was shoulder or elbow. Him touching his neck might've been the nerve acting up or something. Either way I think it's not good at all.
-
Clearly an arm injury and may have been his elbow. That's f***ing brutal.

You can't just throw the same pitch all the time or they'll adjust, Chapman is no slouch and can hit the fastball if he's looking for it. Slider was just left over the plate and a good hitter made him pay, if it's below the zone it might have been a strikeout.

Jansen came into the league as a good hitting catcher with average defense. He raked in the minors in '17 and '18 at age appropriate levels for a catcher and then hit well in a brief stint in the majors. He spent the offseason working to improve his defense to elite levels and has never recovered as a hitter. There were signs he wasn't quite that bad in 2020 as his xwOBA was 52 points higher than his actual so there was hope he could yet turn it around. This year though his batted ball profile went to s*** and he's not hitting the ball with any authority, which is extremely concerning. The only positives remaining is he walks a fair bit and doesn't swing and miss a ton for how bad he's been. But when he makes contact it is pathetic right now. Why would Kirk not be the answer? Have you seen him hit?
-
This umpire has been dogshit. Bo and Vlad robbed.
-
I don't think the league figured him out so much as he just completely forgot how to hit or lost whatever strength he used to have to drive the baseball.
-
Thornton's velo has been way down this season. He also throws a ton of cutters, but he used to sit 92-93 as a starter and now he basically tops out at 93 out of the bullpen.

109.6 mph lineout, lovely.
