  1. That's some good company he's in.
  2. My argument was never against tanking, I was responding to someone saying: "The more pain, the more gain. In all things in life." For example teams like Texas didn't put out awful ballclubs year-to-year while they developed their farm system, the same with the Cardinals. Really has nothing to do with what you're saying.
  3. I think Rasmus just doesn't appear to hustle, he plays a very smooth looking game which looks effortless at times and this gives the impression that maybe he's not going all out on the field. I don't take much issue with Oliver, yes he asked for more or he would retire, love for the game yada yada, but still any player on his last year would probably also ask for more.
  4. Why are Rasmus and Oliver problems? Rasmus is a red-neck but is basically harmless (only his dad is the crazy one) and Oliver is a vetrin. Plus, people love to see Lawrie's passion for the game, as do I. Fans appreciate players that go all out.
  5. Lol no, most casual fans aren't into prospects or aware of farm systems, a truly awful team like the 'Stros can only lose fans playing like this, unless marketing has done a REALLY good job promoting the farm system.
  6. EE!!! What a huge inning for us and awful inning for the Astros.
  7. Still, even during our rebuilding years when the future looked bright we never had teams as awful as the one the Astros throw out there every day, and I mean not even close.
  8. To be fair a lot of kids in athletics are usually better built and usually taller for that matter, so maybe in sports 6' should be around average. I for one am 16 and 6'3 possibly 6'4.
  9. And even though it was a SSS we saw what damage he could really do in his late 2011 stint with the club. The kid has crazy potential, it's disappointing to see him struggle but even when the bat isn't there he still provides good value with his glove at 3rd. You can't give up on a young player like him so early.
  10. Bautista's a below average fielder for sure, but not a terrible one. Yes, he takes awful routes at times, but his arm makes up for a lot of his troubles getting to the ball, so he's usually below average-average.
  11. I was a big believer and supporter of Hutch when he first came up, so it's nice to see him get a good jump in hi rehab starts. Before he got injured he was getting everything figured out, fastball command was always there, in his last few starts he was sitting 94-95 and consistently hitting 96, it looked like he was getting a good feel for his offspeed (mainly slider and changeup) which reflected in his increased K rate over the last few games. If he can go back to being around that level, with obvious potential then he would be welcomed with open arms, I could really see him turn into a good #4/5 starter with potential for a solid #3 or fringe #2.
  12. Atlanta looking for SP options with Tim Hudson going down, this is the time when AA should call offering up JJ.
  13. I doubt it, after a poor season and certainly not getting any younger, no smart GM will overpay to get him. As things stand his value is not the same as it was last offseason, though the two previous good years shouldn't be ruled out if someone was considering acquiring him.
  14. Look at Felix Hernandez's Cy Young season, now I don't have the internet to look at his stats but his record was like 13-12, you need to tell me you wouldn't pick that guy over the likes of Ivan Nova?
  15. I know this is a day old, but wouldn't Oddorizzi (sp?) be the Rays' top pitching prospect?
  16. He's one of the most consistent pitchers in the league right now, he would probably pitch better if he was in a non-AL East division but I don't think any team will take him at this point without him being a throw-in in a big deal.
  17. With a pitcher with his injury history a four year deal would likely not be very smart to offer him, it's also the AL East and while I like JJ a bit more than some he's probably not going back to his Cy Young contending years. Edit: He's also likely not accepting a long deal because he needs to prove he's worth more, which is why he might accept the QO for one year.
  18. He hasn't been as bad as his ERA suggests, if he accepts a QO there would be no problem with that. Yes he's injury prone, but he has good stuff and could give pretty decent value next year. I think currently there is a spot for Hutch, assuming JJ stays, we probably keep due to age/salaries Dickey and Buerhle, so we have those three plus probably Morrow if he has no setbacks. Rogers back to the pen or trade him if some team wants him as their 5th starter, I don't think he'll have trouble gaining a spot unless something goes wrong from here onto next ST.
  19. wat Is dog porn a bannable offense? Plus, the bulldog's not even the one doing the f***ing.
  20. A weak single up the middle proves nothing of the middle infielders, seeing as it was lucky for the ball to make it through a hole. Also, if you're going there, a walk on a wild pitch tests pitcher, infielders, outfielders, catchers AND the baserunner.
