I've never really watched Giles much in the past, but does he always hang so many sliders? Pretty much every outing so far with the jays like half of his sliders are hangers, ugh. He got away with them last night, but now he got punished.

The average jays fan sees SRF 3 era in AA/AAA with lots of strikeouts and think it will magically mean that he will be good in the majors. If I had to guess > 75% of Jays FO/scouts understand that SRF will more then likely get his face melted this year in the majors due to all of his flaws. The hope is with repetition and some tweaks he would become a good pitcher in due time, but not in 2018. I say that SRF will get his face melted and so much love from the casual baseball fans/idiots lol. How can we teach casual baseball fans?Getting Buck and Tabby off the air is a start right?

Common sense says SRF will have an ERA over 4, lock of the century. How much do you want to bet that he wont? Let me think for a minute who will overperform. (no clue u win)

Off hand I believe it was the third pitch of the at-bat, Jansen set up down and away, but the slider ended up being pretty much middle/middle and Gordon got mixed up it seems and didn't swing. Look pitchers make mistakes, with Giles stuff he has a higher margin of error, but just try not to throw middle-middle sliders.

Will this forum ever learn to stop scouting the stats line? Giles had several mistakes vs Gordon, but luckily Gordon is a terrible hitter now and missed the cookies. Last week Giles had a bunch of mistakes vs the Red Sox and they hit them far. But beisbol is weird, pitchers can make mistakes and get away with them with good results.

His slider has always been like this, but major league hitters are less likely to swing at it in comparison to the minors. He won't get away with all of his hanging sliders too. Here is SRF vs Bo Bichette back in March with several hanging sliders / armside run fastballs that went up and in to right handed hitters.

He has had good stuff since he was a teen in high school, the problem is that he has no clue where his pitches are going. That is evident by last night, pretty much every clip available of him on youtube from this year/the past and the outings that I saw of him in person back in March.
