"vlad needs to work on his game in minors, not good enough despite #1 prospect in baseball" - shatkins
"random 18 year old from rookie ball good enough to go to majors" -shatkins
lollllllllllllllllllll
I met Jackson McClelland's parents several times this past summer/fall at various NH games and in the AFL in November. They mentioned how his FB went up 5mph~ this summer when he changed his delivery to go cross-body like Madison B, and Justin Miller.
His control isn't their quite yet, but I was shocked when they didn't protect him on the 40man considering how we are going to lose 95~ games next year, and should have a spot for him.
Him or Bergen are the only guys we have a chance of losing...
I guess it makes sense for tanking, because we clearly are a worse player with Gurribabip instead of Tulo(assuming he is healthy) We are inching closer to a 100 loss team for 2019.
How is the 2020 draft looking?
That is the only thing that makes sense, but instead Atkins bullshits everyone non-stop about Gurribabip being a viable SS (he isn't, nor is he a 2B,).
I'm sorry but can someone please explain why this move is good/makes sense?
All it does is open a spot for Gurribabip, and he is not good at baseball, he is infact bad at baseball, with a very small chance of maybe being ok.
It only makes sense if Tulo is too injured/probably will never play again.
A 34 year old Tulo (if he is healthy enough to play) will outperform Gurribabip 75%~ of the time in 2019.
This FO is borderline f***in delusional in the public IRT to Gurribabip. I get that he was the first "big FA signing" of the new regime and that they don't want to talk bad about him. But he has been very very very bad outside of a 70 PA sample in July 2018.
I hope privately they understand that rough odds for him long-term are that 80% he will be trash, 10% he might be an ok regular, 10% he might be decent.
Release points are harder to fix then you think.
During ST Josh DeGraaf was tipping his pitches with some variations of his windup. Luckily his parents/fiancé were at that game and I mentioned it to him. I also told SRF and J Harris who were charting that game, they both gave me the death stare when I mentioned it, hahah. When I saw JDG at Reading mid summer he fixed it!
But morale of the story is that NP is a work in progress, no one knows if he will put everything together.
He sucks, but what is even more criminal is the FO disregard to how bad Gurribabip is. They are giving him so much rope, and want to save face due to Gurribabip's contract.
Here is a good article recently on FG rehashing alot of the stuff that I have been saying for months IRT to Gurribabip - https://www.fangraphs.com/fantasy/half-season-heroes-lourdes-gurriel-jr/
Nate Pearson has pitched 1.2 innings above short-season ball, and was terrible in the AFL. But he threw 105 a few times!!!!!!! zomggggggggg
Overhyped not overperformer.
Naw, I don't deny he will top lists, but you guys are just fapping over a few pitches on Saturday, look he is a giant work in progress. We have 3 guys now that can throw 100mph+, why don't you fap over them too?
Anything beside losing 90 games next year is stupid, were not going to be better then the Yankees / Red Sox, do a quick 2-3 years tank/rebuild. Only sign reclamation projects for 1-2 yr deals that you can trade if they work out.
Sorta shocked Danny Barnes is still on, he looked so f***in awful the second half of the season, maybe it was injury related though? JD Davis, Pompey will still probably get dropped/traded soon as well.
Also trade Cavan Biggio now while he’s hot and get some sort of pitching. He’s missing cookie pitches that random AAAA scrubs like Teoscar feast on.
Gail Kim was sort of a dick though, the other times I saw him in the summer he would chat, not this time around pre-game in the AFL.
