  1. Darvish - great starter Holland - great starter Lewis - missed all of 2013 Perez - lots to prove Ogando - better out of the BP, never thrown a full season as a SP Feliz - has never thrown more than 70IP and that was in 2010 Harrison - injured all of 2013 That group doesn't exactly instill a huge amount of confidence in me Spanky, even if they have some great arms.
  2. He put up 2.7 and 3.3 WAR in his first two full seasons respectively, with all due respect to Steamer that seems awfully low. Looking at the projection it is for 134IP which is abnormally low. The projected peripherals of an 8.75 K/9, 3.35 BB/9, 1.27 WHIP and a projected FIP of 3.46 suggest he will be worth more run value than 2 wins.
  3. Ya, no brainer. I doubt he'll be a Brewer past the deadline but a great contract and trade chip for MIL though!
  4. I don't think too many of us are confident they are all decent starters going forward. The rotation is looking pretty thin if the BP is unable to step in and pick up innings next season.
  5. I can understand that, Profar is definitely the type of player you don't want to let slip through your grasp. That being said this rotation needs a lot of help and it appears like the only thing STL would move their young pitching for is an equally young controllable SS. From a Jays' perspective both Martinez and Lynn are pre-arb controllable players. Moving Bautista for two pitchers would shore up the rotation and in the proposed trade save the club $13M immediately. If that money were to be re-invested it would help this team a lot. ie) Lynn + Martinez + McCann ($13M/yr contract) > Jose Bautista. \
  6. You're severely underrating Martinez IMO. If you were dealing Bautista for Lynn and Martinez you would have to view them both as at least #2's going forward. Martinez has a mid-90's FB with the ability to hit the upper 90's coupled with plus breaking stuff. The command has never been a concern and IMO the only real question mark as a starter is how durable he will be. Perhaps you don't think he has the physocal strength to pitch +200IP but he definitely has the stuff to be a top of the rotation pitcher.
  7. IMO it's have to be a 3 team deal to get any of the Cards' pitching. Something like Bautista to Tex for Profar+ which is then swung to the cardinals for Lynn + Martinez...
  8. Just plain false for the AL East.
  9. Who is more likely to be a 5 WAR guy next season Holland or Rasmus? Both are probably a win to two wins below that mark. I have both as good not not elite players . Rasmus has a year of control left and is a prime extension candidate. Definitely some value in his contact as well
  10. I wonder if Rasmus + Sanchez/ Stroman coukd be the start to Profar + Holland...
  11. But Rasmus doesn't project at 5 WAR next year. Don't take that as he wont put up 5 WAR, or that he can't, it's just not what should be expected going in to 2014. IF someone is willing to pay-up like he is that perennial 5 WAR guy with control then ship him out, the right deal could really help this club. Would Texas move Profar + pitching for Rasmus? Would Seattle offer up a piece from their stable of arms to land an impact bat? He definitely could be on his way out and at the very least AA will what he could get.
  12. When the negotiating period was reported it was also reported that a catching and pitching prospect were going the other way. Everyone wanted it to be JPA but shortly after it was confirmed that d'Arnaud was going the other way. At that point no one was sure who the pitching prospect would be. Most of us figured it would be a top 10 in the org type of guy but I think we all thought Synder or Sanchez would be out of the question. If I remember correctly most believed it would be Nicolino or Nolin going the other way. News broke, the Mets board trolled us for a couple days (admittedly because a group of fans antagonized them for the whole negotiating window) and then we moved on.
  13. I don't really see what you disagree with Spanky.. There is significant risk in acquiring prospects that is often over looked in hypothetical trade scenarios. Profar on his own is not worth Bautista. In order to compete everything has to align and windows of contention are common place in sport. Rasmus isn't a centrepiece on a contender but, he could be a valuable contributor. It may be the right time to move Rasmus. It may be good business to let him walk in a couple years for a comp pick. It obviously depends what the trade market is like and what he's asking for on a long term deal. I'd lean more towards extending Rasmus than moving him but, he is one of the few trade chips AA has.
  14. Gareth Morgan as an under-slot guy with our 2nd round pick could make some sense if AA decides to go big with his two firsts. Otherwise I think you'll have to hope he falls to the third for the Jays to land him.
  15. With Harvey out for all of next season there is literally no chance they move their young pitching. They are going to sign an OF'er in FA and roll with their guys, at least until Harvey gets back. On a sidenote Bowden is a moron.
  16. Better yet hes going to trade the face of the franchise for a guy who has never thrown 200IP and a fringe guy in AA. f***ing Jim Bowden.
  17. Was whoever wrote this high? It cost Syndergaard and d'Arnaud for Dickey last off season, it's going to take more than that to land Bautista.
  18. And give up lots of value to make it happen plus they all will be paid in their careers.
  19. IMO Choo, McCann and Garza would be the dream off-season. I wanted to know how much it would cost for all three and where that would put the Jays' payroll. Thought I'd share; Choo + McCann + Garza REAL - $46.5M FAKE - $41.7M '14 REAL Payroll - $177.5M (using $121M for Lind's and Janssen's options plus the current salary committed to 14 players + $10M for Cecil, Rogers and Rasmus in arb, and $46.5M in FA REAL contracts) '14 FAKE Payroll - $172.7M (121M + $10M + $41.7 in FA FAKE contracts) Payroll is likely to be +$30M less than that though
  20. Ya, in that scenario there should already be a starting 2B that is getting rest...
  21. I'm on board, just make sure Gibbons goes with Goins, Reyes and Lawrie in the IF during his starts to support that GB rate.
  22. He has nasty stuff. I'm curios what Jamie Evans can do for his arm, hopefully he'll be on the field next year.
  23. Ya, especially pitching in Angel Stadium I think they would both be good back end guys. I like what Esmil has done as a starter this year and I think he could stick going forward. On the Jays he would work best out of the BP as a swingman, hopefully other teams will see him as a starter. Move him for starter value instead of using him in a role with an almost identical replacement (Happ) and where he will produce less value. I'd move Happ/Rogers for Ianetta/Conger but, AA really should just utilize the FA market.
  24. Probably true but I see them both as legit back end guys.
  25. Nolin and Rogers would be the win now pitching pieces.
