  1. I'd love to see a follow up article applying TIPS to the current FA BP and SP market. I noticed a guy like Shaun Marcum posted a good TIPS and could be a decent bounce back candidate. I'm sure there are quite a few more candidates that I overlooked.
  2. They will eventually move Castro to make way for Baez but, it doesn't have to be now or this season.
  3. They need lots of cheap quality innings for the next 2-3 years while their core grows. They would also need a piece or two with upside that they believe in but, they need those innings and a controllable reliever will have some value to the Cubs.
  4. Castro is on a team friendly deal and Peralta just got a haul. Peralta's deal certainly increases Castro's value league-wide.
  5. He was offered as one of 3. They need BP help. Cecil and Delabar both have control if that's what they are looking for which is why they were also mentioned.
  6. Is that guy reliable? A quote from a source used in the article; Recently has posted a lot more about college sports than baseball (and covers both Chicago teams) but, that could just be the time of year. I'd take this one with a grain of salt. IMO it seems like there were a lot of names involved and this was unlikely to be a 2 or 3 : 1 deal. I do believe it shows that the Cubs are looking for a package of young pitching in any deal. Again going with their timeline of top prospects I think you could ditch some of the MLB talent in my earlier trade and go with two proposals; win nowish; Rasmus + Stroman + Jimenez + Happ/Delabar/Cecil/Rogers for Castro + Samardzija win around Baez; Gose + Jimenez + Norris + Nolin + Hutch/Drabek for Castro + Samardzija
  7. I have to say JFaS the thing I was most impressed with was your analysis of the results. You really took it one step further and showed the utility of your work, not many bloggers have the aptitude to go that far.
  8. I think they'd prefer Cecil or Delabar to Janssen but, they probably want MLB BP innings in the deal. They could have interest in Happ/Rogers/Redmond as well. Gose alone should get you Castro...
  9. I think it really depends how you view those pieces. If you're on the high end; closer (Cecil/Janssen/Delabar/Santos too I guess) back-end lefty with control (Nolin) mid-rotation starter with control (Hutch/Drabek) 2-3 WAR starting CF'er with control and upside (Gose) mid-to-bottom end starting C, ~1-3WAR -/+framing (Jimenez) for a 1/2 SP, who is about to get expensive and a 2-3 WAR 2B -- that's a decent haul and the pieces fit the timeline of their top prospects coming through the system.
  10. Refused to comment on specific players. Said they have discussed every FA pitcher, made calls to most to gauge cost/interest and has been actively talking trades to fill a number of positions (including those that currently are filled and has talked to FA for a contingency plan if he were to pull the trigger). I think Samardzija is a decent target and could be had without giving up Stroman/Sanchez. I'm sure a package of Cecil/Janssen/Delabar + Nolin + Drabek/Hutch + Jimenez + Gose for Castro and Samardzija would be enticing to the Cubs. The Jays could re-sign Rajai and would still need to sign a C and backend SP (they're trading a lot of depth) at the absolute minimum.
  11. Holliday and Molina.
  12. How reliable is that data? Seems like one line is from ST and the other two from the AFL...
  13. I don't know if I've ever read the off-topic thread. A best of button would probably be needed for it to actually work as well but that may be asking too much given the amount of time that has already been put in to the forums and the blog launching.
  14. I'd love to see a locked "best of" thread in which posts can be nominated and moved to. I'd also look to have a locked "posts of shame" thread in which posts can be nominated and moved to.
  15. I'm all for it if the title is misleading.
  16. +1 keep up the good work GSnarls.
  17. Ya true he is a vegetarian. Lead the league in black bean cheeseburgers.
  18. I probably make more silly fantasy proposals than anyone on here but they don't need a new thread. Find a relevant thread and post and join that conversation.
  19. Fielder will lead the league in cheeseburgers consumed for a third straight season. Kinsler will lead the tigers in teammates hugged. Reyes will blow out a knee but it will be replaced by a bionic knee and he will go on to lead the league in SB, and IF hits.
  20. If you want Votto it would cost Bautista+, you aren't anywhere close.
  21. It's working for me KK. I have issues had when switching between devices with the bolding feature, often times marking entire sub-forums as read but that's about it.
  22. I'd move Bautista for Kemp, if they sent Kershaw along as well. Kemp is Vernon Wells lite with huge injury concerns and a bigger contract.
  23. I loved RBI baseball as well. This reminds me of a Ken Griffey JR remake someone did with modern rosters for a SNES emulator. If anyone is interested the link is here; http://np.reddit.com/r/baseball/comments/1p54cn/ken_griffey_jr_baseball_20th_anniversary_rom_snes/ Seems up your alley though Spanky
  24. Pretty sure he meant that kinsler's contact will make it hard for him to produce surplus value over its length. Not that he would be above replacement level...
