  1. Nope, AA got ripped off.
  2. I think we can agree that you will pay more for the years of control but, you pay more because they are worth something. Up until this year, when the Red moved Hamilton to CF, he had always had great BB rates and a decent K rate. I think a move back to the infield could do him some good and that 2B is still his best position. He should be worth more to the Jays as a 2B than to the Reds as a CF'er. I'd propose a prospect swap, Gose for Hamilton but, the Reds are still very high on Hamilton and would likely want more than that.
  3. That's the issue, no one wants to hug a wet blanket.
  4. There's a difference between having to qualify every sentence and a very definitive statement such as this; I imagine he would cost his market value as that's generally how trades work.
  5. a) I know, The Reds wont move him when his value is down How could you possibly know that?
  6. TBH I'd be more interested in Billy Hamilton.
  7. The key here is that AA needs to use the FA market this off-season. He doesn't have the assets to trade for a contender without utilizing the FA market. Even if AA were to land a Phillips or Anderson he needs to add quite a bit more in order to actually contend.
  8. That's definitely the key. Without knowing what Colby is asking for I wouldn't do it but, I'm expecting Colby to get paid this summer. On a team friendly deal Colby > Phillips.
  9. At least Hollon and Tellez seem like real steals. AA can save the draft by going big this year, there should be a ton of talent on the board in the 10-12 range. Here's hoping he doesn't keep loading up on arms.
  10. I guess I'd move Colby for Phillips but, it would require pursuing another OF'er in FA. I'm not sure if that would be a lateral move or an improvement for the Jays. IMO it'd be better to just go after FA's instead of giving up assets for yet another player who just signed a big money deal. IMO for this trade to really work it would take the Reds adding a pitcher (one of Bailey, Leake or Cueto) to the package and the Jays sending a shitload of talent Cincinnati way. Cueto would be the prime target IMO as he would come much cheaper than Leake or Bailey.
  11. Blown shoulder and elbow in the same season? Doubt it. Ill take that bet though Haha
  12. Colon is the far better target.
  13. This is exactly how I feel as well. I'd move a guy like Pillar and some filler for him but, I wouldn't be willing to give up an elite prospect for someone who is very likely to be injured most of the season.
  14. The only one that makes sense IMO is the Mariners and it would still take multiple moves and a reinvestment of the financial commitment in FA to be worthwhile. Something along the lines of; Reyes --> SEA for Franklin + Paxton (maybe more?) Bautista --> TEX for Profar + some pitching, I'd ask for Holland but it would likely take more to land him Sign McCann and Choo
  15. Projects as a power bat. Hasn't done enough to get any scouts excited. Needs to hit more and significantly drop the k rate. Not good signs for an all bat position like 1b. Still he's young, athletic and has lots of potential. At this point he is years away from reaching his ceiling, and the majors but he's one if the highest update bats in the system
  16. I think just Hutch and Nolin have options and you're right some of those guys will make the bp.
  17. Are you going to get out and watch him Ang?
  18. Buehrle Dickey Morrow whoeever AA adds McGowan, Redmond, Drabek, Hutch, Romero and Nolin fight it out for the 5th spot. Whoever loses out goes to AAA.
  19. 5 of; Stroman Nolin Drabek Hutch McGuire Romero Happ Jenkins Richmond McGowan
  20. I think he'll definitely be given a chance to steal the 5th spot but he'll most likely start the year in AAA, especially if AA improves the rotation.
  21. TBH this thread, http://www.bluejaysmessageboard.com/threads/26-The-Prospect-Minor-Leagues-Thread?highlight=prospect+thread, should be moved to the main forum and can be used for the endless updates. Big news (top prospect call ups, top 100 lists, etc) should get their own threads here as well. The sub-forums should be used for smaller day-to-day things that people want to discuss (daily performances, AFL updates, updated scouting reports bush league or otherwise, any relevant videos/pictures/tweets/media, etc) that don't deserve their own thread here but, do warrant one for those of us who are prospect junkies. This shouldn't be it's own thread in the main sub-forum as this was an interesting article but isn't new information. If you are interested in discussing these kinds of prospect tidbits all season and off-season long then consider this an open invitation to join in the prospect sub-forum, it is filled with information like this from across the Jays system.
  22. I guess it's confirmed, AA is going with a veterin for his next hitting coach.
  23. I think there are healthy ways that PED's could be incorporated in to the games. I don't think players are responsible enough to use PED's in a regimen oriented towards long-term-health. Athletes are paid based on results and if unchecked a large number of them will use PED's for short term gain regardless of the health effects. If you want proof just look at Jose Conseco. It's not he didn't know the health implications and yet he took 'roids anyways.
  24. Selig works for the owners. This talk of saving his legacy is BS. He ignored steroids because the owners wanted him to -- he started is trying to clean up the game because the owners want him to. A-Rod got caught cheating and is trying to save face. Regardless of whether what Selig and the MLB have done is right or wrong we know A-Rod is a cheater. Sure, Selig and the MLB are trying to mend their images because of the steroid scandal. Pretending that A-rod is in the right without any knowledge of the facts is just plain biased and as bad as anyone defending A-Rod. It's always best to wait for these things to play out before the finger pointing and name calling.
  25. Ya Longo is just too good. I could see them flipping Lawrie for something that fits better though.
