    Lopez is on the 40 man roster, Smith isn't. So, Smith can lobby the MLB to increase the size of the 40 man roster, or he can bust up an infielder's knee so they wind up on the 60 day IL, but outside of that, he can't do anything.

    Our 40 man cannot handle much more abuse... And I don't get the reason it would be PR, but I don't know anything about Smith, other than he used to be good, but sucks now.

    Pearson is on the 40 man, no need to DFA Overton to bring him back up.

    According to the Jays transactions page, Reds traded us Mallex Smith. Nothing on MLBTR, and no indication as to what we gave up (or when).

    I didn't watch in real time, but I went frame by frame on that replay, and the glove didn't touch him. The shadow on his arm makes it a bit hard to tell, but those strings didn't move, which they would have if they'd made contact with his arm. The body of the glove definitely never touched him. If he was called safe on the field (which is what I'm gathering from reading here) that is 100% not enough information to overturn that call. And if it was overturned, it was a miss.

    Am I crazy or does he look a lot like Donaldson? I mean, "both" is also a plausible answer.

    Both Teo and Gurriel have well above average arms, so that's not really a fair comparison.
