  1. That we COULD? 100%...
  2. Except that's clearly not the case, or he'd wait 2 years and sign a 9 figure deal... Nothing about him coming over this off season suggests that he's looking for an immediate payout (obviously, he'll be paid like a motherf***er once he hits arbitration regardless of where he goes...)
  3. I would think that the vast majority of sponsorships that he signs would be in Japan, regardless of where he signed.
  4. Would definitely bring him back to cover corner OF, 3B and 2B. Could be a good piece if he's healthy.
  5. Completely off topic, but this isn't really nearly as cut and dried as you might think, particularly when you factor in the health-care factors. It's really not an apples to apples comparison, but generally, the top 1% does better in the US, but middle and lower classes pay a lower tax rate in Canada (and that will be even more true if the current Republican tax plan passes...) https://www.investopedia.com/financial-edge/0411/do-canadians-really-pay-more-taxes-than-americans.aspx
  6. Per MLBTR (and sorry if it was posted, but I didn't see it...) Heading onto the Blue Jays’ roster, per a club announcement, are righty Connor Greene, lefty Tom Pannone, first baseman Rowdy Tellez, and catchers Dan Jansen and Reese McGuire.
  7. I'm pretty sure that you have to clear waivers before you can be outrighted... Maybe they mean that he can be claimed in the rule 5 now...
  8. If money was his primary motivator, he'd just stay in Japan for 2 more years... This shouldn't be a deciding factor.
  9. Does "outrighted" not mean they sent him to AAA and took him off the 40? Why does this article read like he was given his unconditional release?
  10. Look, Dick and I don't see eye to eye on ANYTHING, and even I knew that was a joke...
  11. Oakland would likely appeal to him as a pitcher, but if he wants to actually be thought of as a two way player, that stadium would be the complete death of him as a batter.
  12. This anecdote makes me respect Shatkins a bit less. You need to have some flexibility in your organization, and "suit and tie" type should not be even on the radar of a baseball organization.
  13. I would definitely be MORE comfortable with those numbers, yes.
  14. 3 years, $48M is about where I'm comfortable with Bruce... More than that and I'm totally out.
  15. A long way from this... What a damn shame.
  16. after reading this thread, I have realized that I made a poor choice in watching last night and skipping tonight... I shall now try to find a recap somewhere...
  17. That's a really, really specific thing to lie about though, like... Why, out of all of the restaurants he's been to, would he pick that one to lie about? I wasn't there, I dunno the specifics, but like... Why?
  18. For the record, I'm online almost every day, I just don't post too much at the moment. I clean up spam threads when I see 'em.
  19. Okay, in what universe is Ryan Goins putting up that line? He might even be a useful bench piece if he could put up that line.
  20. Like 75% of all women (in my general age range) fall into category 3 for me...
  21. Sign me up for team "I f***ing hate irregular stadium dimensions. They should be standardized across all of the MLB ffs".
  22. Otani confirmed!
  23. Pedroia's MVP was the same deal... Kevin Youklis, for example, was better that season. Yep, the worst.
  24. ... Only "up the middle guys" have high upside. That's pretty weak justification right there.
