    Thing is, Atkins does get good pieces in trades, he just gives up too much to get them. I'm pretty okay with everything we got this deadline, interesting and decent pieces across the board, but he surrendered a lot more value than I think he needed to, or failed to get extra pieces back to add value on the return.

    I wouldn't have non tendered him personally, but I also wouldn't have made this trade, so my valuations are obviously not the same as the front office.

    I'm just going to go ahead and let you know that you're 100% wrong on this and hope you accept that. The arbitrator can come back and say "here's the figure" and the team has the right to say "okay, bye then" and the player becomes a free agent at that point. Edit: just to clarify, I am not 100% sure if a player can be non-tendered AFTER arbitration, I believe that's the case, but after some cursory googling, I wasn't able to confirm or deny that. Regardless, Sanchez could be non-tendered before arbitration if they assumed that he'd get more than they were willing to pay, and he would become a free agent.

    Atkins also said he went back to every team that had made an offer and gave them a chance to counter the Mets' offer. So either Atkins or the Twins dude is lying here, and I'm leaning Twins dude. He probably just assumed that Atkins would wait until the last minute to pull off a trade and was wrong. Either that or he wasn't willing to make an offer that Atkins liked more, regardless of how he valued his offer.

    All 3 of these guys were under control for at least another season, there was no need to trade any of them, and yet they were all traded for a guy who... Probably is maybe as good as a healthy Alford? f***ing ghastly trade. I can defend the Stroman trade, I liked the Hudson and Sogard trades, but this one? f***ing indefensible.

    I'd have preferred to give Sanchez a spot in the pen over treating him as a throw in for a trade. Unless the remaining piece(s) coming our way are actually good.
