    Perhaps my phrasing was inartful, but you need to win 66% of the total games in a series to win a 3 game series. If you are recalculating after game 1, then it becomes 50% v/ 100%. It's the same math, I'm just looking at the sum total of games, not the number of games remaining.

    In a 3 game series you need to win 66% of the games. If you've already won 1 game, you now have to win 33% of the games, while your opponent still has to win 66% of the games.

    It matters, but not for the reason he's saying it matters. It's always better to be ahead in a series than behind.

    Disagree. I think you're really overstating the effects of being down 1-0 in a 3 game series. Yes, it puts the team at a statistical disadvantage, but it's not going to turn the whole team into pudding brains, and the whole "WOW WE'RE IN THE PLAYOFFS FOR THE FIRST TIME" would be just as likely to cause "pressing".

    If he needs an extra day, give him the extra day. If he pitches in game 1 or 2 it won't really matter.

    Gurriel boosted his wRC+ from 126 to 138 with that game. Vladdy finishes the season at a disappointing, but still respectable 115. Statcast still doesn't have the EV for Gurriel's baseball murdering homerun. I'm thinking it may have been too fast for the technology to actually register.
