  1. Meh, he was with the team for a month and a half, I promise you nobody will remember he was ever a Jay by spring training.
  2. What's different from last year's powder blues? I mean, I really like them (looks like they ditched the cool hats from last year though...) but they look the same, other than the hat.
  3. I mean, football is terrible, but this is objectively not only false, but really dumb.
  4. Since he likes Toronto, I'd be after Walker on a 1 year + option(s), in case he does actually break out at all.
  5. You are missing the ETA of 2021, which seems slightly unlikely to me.
  6. Oshawa is basically Toronto (as someone who has lived in both cities) Takes < 45 minutes to get downtown from here.
  7. Did she sexually harass you?
  8. Guess a few of us saw that, huh?
  9. He's pricey for a 4th OF, but it's not a contract that the Jays NEED to move or do anything with, they've got a LOT of financial flexibility and don't need to make any moves (other than slashing some 40 man roster weight...)
  10. Gurriel certainly has the arm for 3B, maybe it was the short throw that gave him issues?
  11. The "best offence" should be graded based on projections, not history. "SO FAR" the best player in baseball in 2045 hasn't done s***, but that has no bearing on the best offences of 2045 lists (which probably exist on some weird site somewhere...)
  12. He has yet to get consistently elite results. HOWEVER. He has ridonculously elite exit velocity, and is already an above average hitter in the MLB at 21.
  13. "We should have spent the same amount of money to get fewer years of the player..." is an interesting take...
  14. I mean... That's sorta what always happens though? It's rare that a GM is like "here's this below market offer, I'm now going to use my charms to win you over so you'll take it..." Players either a) sign where the money is or sign where they want to play for whatever reason (winning/history/home town). Where Shatkins hit this one out of the park was that they had the team set up so that this move was a) financially viable and a good pickup to make a tangible improvement on an already good team.
  15. Okay, so last year we had various black holes at 3B, and 2 guys who could hit at 1B. It would have been more valuable to the team to put one of the guys who could hit at 3B, so you had non-black-holes at both of those positions EVEN if the one who you moved to 3B was a shite fielder. If (hypothetical numbers) Vladdy is putting up a 140 wRC+ and Tellez is putting up a 130 wRC+ and Travis f***ing Shaw is putting up a 90 wRC+ as our primary 3B, you accept a few airmailed throws from Vladdy to get Shaw the f*** out, and get Tellez and Vladdy both into the lineup. Also, weren't you one of the guys who was saying "f*** it, Biggio can probably play CF" earlier this off season?
  16. The goal of the offseason was to improve the team. If the best roster construction includes Vladdy at 3rd, then you do it. Also, Chuckles is absolutely going to put Vladdy in at 3B a bunch of times, and he'll only stop doing that about 6 months after it was obvious to everyone that he shouldn't do that.
  17. There are lots of ABs to go around with the current roster. If they add Brantley, then a move has to be made.
  18. Tice and Palacios as the other two maybe?
  19. Yeah, they must, otherwise it makes very little sense. Hopefully for a good return, 'cause I sorta prefer Teo/LGJ to Brantley? I mean, all things considered (age/likely contract etc...)
  20. The biggest thing the Jays gives Rogers is free content for its sports stations. w/o the Jays it's poker and darts for most of the summer, so they have INCREDIBLY value to the company as a whole. But yeah, good day for the Jays. They got 1 of 3 of the guys I wanted this off season (but the one I wanted the most...)
  21. I don't see why. I mean, he might want more than they're willing to pay, but they have lots of room on the payroll to fit both if they wanted to.
  22. What financial issues? Rogers makes their money from the TV revenue, the gate is a secondary concern. They also had something like $12.48 committed to payroll for this season before this signing, so there was some room in the budget.
  23. This guy has a valid concern...
  24. Thing is, they have the money to spend right now, and the market is there to do it... As kinda insane as it is to say this, the Jays could swallow it if they paid Springer ~5/125, and he didn't play a single game for them, so it really isn't going to be an albatross of any kind.
