  1. I'd take a flyer on a MiLB deal, but no way I give him a 40 man roster spot.
  2. I think he was a worthwhile risk to take at the right price. That is all.
  3. And I'd do it again, if the contracts were equal.
  4. Bassitt hasn't been officially signed yet (according to the transactions page at bluejays.com), KK was just added to the list yesterday, so they're pretty quick with the updates.
  5. I can't imagine they'd give up the chance to sign a prospect that highly touted just to get Chris Bassitt into the fold, they obviously have the numbers worked out.
  6. When did Lukes convert to a pitcher? Eta: Excellent visual as always, TL!
  7. He's been dangerously close to contributing to baseball discussions lately, so I'm glad to see he's back to providing zero value.
  8. The question was who would you move, not who is the worst... Return for Kirk is likely substantially higher than the return for Jansen, so there's an argument that he's the best one to move (obviously that's all speculation, but I think Moreno/Jansen is a perfectly cromulent catching duo, and the return would definitely help in other areas...)
  9. I hope he has a Gyroball...
  10. While I struggle to believe that Keirmaier is worth $12M / season, I still like this deal a lot more than giving Bellinger $17.5M...
  11. Everyone is saying "He should be the 4th OF because we should have 3 clearly better options". How hard is this to extrapolate?
  12. I miss when Term actually tried to be a baseball contributor on this board and wasn't just a C- troll.
  13. This board is just awesome for s*** like this. "Jays/Cards discussed Jansen deal, Helsley mentioned as possible piece" becomes "THE CARDINALS OFFERED HELSLEY TO THE JAYS FOR JANSEN AND ATKINS JUST LAUGHED IN THEIR FACES AND CALLED THEM DUMMIES!"
  14. Nice upgrade from Zimmer, hopefully he's used the same way.
  15. Pop's got some great stuff, and he's not even arb eligible until 2025. Lots of time to turn that great stuff into great results.
  16. Add Zulu and Tiedemann to the rotation mix. Not that I think it's likely, but they'll be given a chance to earn that role, I'm sure.
  17. Lopez has played a fair bit of SS in the MiLB, definitely a utility guy, but played each of 2B/SS/CF a fair bit. Barger has played more SS than any other position. Obviously Biggio and Merrifield only play SS if half the team is in traction, but between those 4 guys Espinal isn't CRITICAL to keep around. They all (including Espinal) project to be about league average in wRC+ (give or take 10%) with Barger being the highest at 113 (Merrifield at 98 is the lowest, which surprised me...). We're a bit spoiled for choice w/r/t utility guys at the moment, so it wouldn't shock me to see any of those 5 moved (I guess it'd be pretty shocking to see Barger move at this point in his career arc...)
  18. Scoring runs was absolutely not this team's problem, so this shouldn't be the major focus. We've got more than enough thump in the lineup w/o Teo to score the runs we'll need. That being said, they'll bring in an OF, 100%, but it may not be the clean-up hitter of the future.
  19. Pretty sure most of the Espinal trade suggestions have been with him as the add-a-piece to balance things out, not as the centrepiece of a deal. Between Biggio, Merrifield, Barger, and Lopez we can replace Espinal without much worry, if that's how a trade shakes out.
  20. Inflation is cooling down, but who knows what will happen if China has an uprising of sorts and can no longer produce all of the worlds goods with cheap and/or slave labour. We live in unpredictable times.
  21. Would be thrilled if this were something more than "best shape of my life" in spring training for literally every player.
  22. With the CBA changes, we're more likely to see Tiedemann break camp with the team or show up much later in the year. It would be pretty negligent roster management to both potentially miss out on a draft pick *AND* still miss the new super 2 cutoff. Unless I'm misremembering how the changes go...
  23. They can't possibly think Ryu will be a major contributor in 2023, can they? I'll do you one better, I'd wager that player will be a male between the ages of 18 and 39...
