    O's sign the 5th overall pick for $4.9M. Slot value is $6,180,700, so they saved a good chunk of money to spend on... uhhh...

    There has been at least one rain delay at the Skydome. I distinctly remember the game (and the cover of the Toronto Sun the following day). There's no drainage at the dome. They will not risk it to sell more tickets.

    That's weird, Payamps has been pretty good. I wonder if there's something behind the scenes that we haven't seen...

    It's pure speculation on my part, but I can't imagine a bunch of minimum wage popcorn vendors are turning down other work on the promise that they'll have a job at the Skydome "eventually". The jobs will get filled, obviously, but I'm not sure enough of them will be to provide full support for games in < 2 weeks.

    The request is all well and good, but if they can't get ticket takers/concessions/etc staff hired in time, they may still have some games w/o fans, just logistically.

    It's soon. Note though if you haven't been here before, the zoo is quite a ways outside the city.

    I mean, having games in Toronto on July 30th doesn't necessarily require fans in attendance yet... They can work out those details over the following days/weeks. The key is "can baseball teams come in and play".

    Honestly, I'd have no objection to ties after a few extra innings (though I personally am fine with the "it goes as long as it goes" system). Be a f***tonne better than 7 inning games or that ghastly ghostrunner on 2nd rule.

    Everywhere is an exaggeration, but in some places it's starting to spike again Delta and Lambda variants are f***ing things up for everyone.

    Rogers could shutter the Skydome forever and have the team play to an empty stadium and still make bank. The Jays are free, high value content for their sports stations. Anything on top of that is a bonus for them.

    WTF does "expansion candidates" have to do with anything? Rogers will NEVER move the team from Toronto.
