    this is why we need one more lefty that can throw strikes. I assume Cecil is unavailable tonight which is not terrible because Lowe should be which is solid against everyone.

    I don't know i think it is because he is riding his straight 4 seamer a lot he has to throw more Sliders and Changeups so hitters can't sit on that fastball. I have seen innings where he has only thrown 2 offspeed pitches. You leave a 4 seamer in the wrong spot it can be hit hard if the batter knows its coming. You have to put a seed of doubt in the hitters mind that you can throw something else.

    This. I hear a lot of people saying Cecil should be the 8th inning guy. Why not use the right guy in the right spot. Between Lowe Cecil and Hawk you can figure out a couple innings. If there are 2 lefties up in the 7th i want Cecil pitching. I think you manage the game to who is due up and not whose designated to the role. Ideally i want to see closers to be a thing of the past. A lot of times saves need to happen in the 7th or 8th. However this will never happen for some reason. Especially if Maddon is still using a defined closer.
