    I think we are missing the point here. It doesn't matter if the Jays pitchers are aligning with what expectations are for being an ace. They probably just need to match the other pitcher and "hopefully" the Jays offence doesn't stagnate. "IF" the Jays do make a playoffs series Im more than ok having Ray and Berrios matching up with their #2 and 3 starters. I know Im putting the cart before the horse but isnt that the long range plan for the team?

    Some fans would have a higher opinion for Berrios if he was pitching for a large market team with national press but I guess this happens when pitching for Minnesota!

    One would think it would be McGuire being moved. Considering any team could have had him a cpl months ago for basically free it's great to see he up'd his value with his recent play!

    I like the fact of giving the players a regular scheduled day off and not filling an off-day up with a postponed game. If it wasnt for lost income (for owners), Im sure the teams and players would like the 7 inning double dippers as well if it means a few extra days off.

    Those doubleheaders arent so bad as a fan wanting a bigger bang for their buck when going to a game. We dont need to have any in schedule but for make-up games only.

    His MLB contract is pocket change when compared to his endorsements. But yes, he is vastly underpaid in MLB "for now".

    with his history with the Cubs and how the Cubs are nosediving I wouldn't put all my faith in his slump now. I would be cautious but if he could play good D at third and let Biggio (if not traded) be the super-sub.

    No...absolute not!...wasnt impressed with Atkins at the start but I dont see how we could expect any better than whats been delivered to us with Atkins and Shapiro! I thought what my friend said was funny...could be the second worse GM but he looks good due his dealings with the worse GM!...nothing more...nothing less

    If Atkins can get this haul for Rowdy, leaves me wondering what he could get for a redundant Jansen or McGuire? A friend said something to me the other day which made me laugh since its so true..."a terrible GM can survive for a long time if his greatest asset is his ability to find the worse GM in the league and only make deals with them"!

    Years ago when Ozzie Smith played for SD, he was diving for the ball and it hit second base and was looking like the ball was going to be going over him, remarkably he grabbed the ball with his throwing hand and threw the guy out .

    Perhaps what the FO is thinking what Kimbrel is making they could get 2 other reliable relievers? One of Shaprios issues with Alex A was giving up highly ranked assets/prospects for short term players, he may consider trading lesser prospects for lesser of a big bang reliever?
