They used to just alternate between leagues which no one really liked either. I remember in 1987 the barely over .500 Twins beat the Cards in 7 by taking all four games in an extremely loud Metrodome. A lot of people felt the superior Cards would have taken it with home field advantage but it was the A.L.'s turn and that was just how it was done. They also had alternating home field advantages LCS (East and West) too and when they first introduced the LDS, they did it that way there as well but it caused a lot of confusion and complaints and they changed both the LDS and LCS pretty quickly to the seeded system they have now.
Sure but playing Notstrodamus about who will make it deeper into the playoffs would be a really dumb way to use it (though from what everyone's saying, it doesn't sound like that was actually the case).
Was that really Lucroy's rationale? What kind of dummy doesn't jump at the opportunity to go to a potential playoff team? Instead he was a dick to his team just so he could get better odds? What a turkey. I'm glad he choked.
They haven't even clinched their NLCS birth yet. The fact that they are practically the favourites in spite of that is a testament to how good they are. If and when they beat the Giants, they will be the favourites.
I like the Indians winning because no one's going to trot out the lazy, unsubstantiated by history, narrative that the Jays will have "too much rest". Both teams will be nearly the same amount of rested.
Well nobody knows for certain but you have to believe that Bannister told the whole team that they would wait until the last chance to throw at him. Otherwise, somebody else would have done it by then.
I wouldn't. Pompey's development has been f***ed. He came up too quick the first time and wasn't ready and he still doesn't look ready. I want him to put together a better AAA season than what we just saw.
I believe Ryan Goins will be out of options next year so it probably comes down to going cheap with Goins or signing Barney and losing Goins altogether.
LH reliever will be an area of concern. Cecil is a free agent too so I could see them offering Loup arb just to have a bird in the hand though they'll definitely want to bring in someone better as well whether that's resigning Cecil or ponying up for someone else.
