    Gose is out of options. If they sent him to AAA, he could opt out altogether.

    There's a price that makes sense for everybody. If the terms are reasonable and reasonably short, it can work especially with no DH on the roster but there's no real reason for Melky to give Toronto a substantive discount when he could just take the q.o.

    Jackson was one of those guys I thought would hit the majors. I didn't think he'd be good but I though he could be a reserve. When they moved him to the OF that was the death knell. All glove shortstop who doesn't actually have the glove to play shortstop, womp, womp. When the absolutely pointless exercise of moving him there worked as well as expected they actually tried him at pitcher which made a hell of a lot more sense since his only tool is his arm but that was too little, too late.

    That's not the point. The point is that it's not "'Melky or bust". At this point signing Melky really isn't really any different than signing any free agent.

    If the Jays have the money to sign him then they have the money to sign someone else too whether that's Chase, Asdrubal or whoever.

    Saw Radahmes Liz and Yusuf Carter in AA this year. Yusuf is Joe Carter's nephew, real beast of a player. He looks like a man among boys but he can't hit for beans. Watching Radahmes Liz pitch is about as much fun as a visit to the dentist.

    Dalton is the worst. At least, a flat out terrible quaterback like E.J. Manuel will get out of the way fairly quickly. Dalton, on the other hand, has had just enough productive stretches to keep getting more opportunities to fail.

    I don't really see what Dick_Pole is saying that's so exaggerated. Gose's development isn't where it should be. He should be an elite base runner but he's not even a good base runner. His contact skills are a disappointment as well. The guy looks like he's coasting on raw talent. His saving graces are elite defense and (relative) youth but Pompey has all the potential in the world to leap frog him. Ideally Gose performs well and runs away with CF but the not terribly unlikely alternative is that his lot is cast as a reserve player.

    That's a quality answer. Keith Law should take notes.

    Pompey struggled initially after the jump to AA but he maintained a solid approach, saw pitches, drew walks and the hitting eventually came around. Double A isn't exactly a pressure cooker but it's a significant jump (certainly the most significant that he was expected to make). He showed that he had good makeup and a good approach. That should serve him well in the Majors though it hardly guarantees anything.

    Pretty similar numbers to T. Wada but he's nearly ten years younger.
