  1. Roster Resource indicates that Izturis still has options. If that's correct then he doesn't even need to be released to save the roster spot.

Arguably doing a better job of looking out for player's interests than the NFLPA.
  3. He really sounds, in many ways, just like what the doctor ordered.
  4. Holy f***! A celebrity bowling event! That's low.

Well something's gotta give. If the coach won't adapt to the players he has then either he has to go or the personnel has to be changed. To just maintain the status quo is f***in' stupid.
  6. That makes a huge difference. Was Hoffman the main piece? MIGHT have been worth the risk if he was. Certainly not worth it if he wasn't even the biggest piece.
  7. Here's a direct link to Blair's piece.

  9. I feel like there just delaying the inevitable at this point but maybe you're right that they'd rather humble him a bit and let him fail and possibly humiliate him a bit rather than release him now and give him a reason to see himself as a victim and cause a media circus.
  10. So apparently the Yankees don't want to have anything to do with A-Rod even going so far as to denying him an opportunity to apologize to them. If they want nothing to do with him, why don't they just give him his release? At this point, he can't realistically be considered anything more than a sunk cost, can he? http://www.thescore.com/mlb/news/687461
  11. I did notice that in the ESPN interview, he's not the one who introduces the concept of eliminating shifts, the interviewer does. Manfred doesn't exactly shoot it down but maybe he just didn't want to debate specifice measures so maybe there's hope for him although as I said earlier, I really wasn't impressed. Manfred wants to both speed up the game AND increase offense which will be pretty hard to accomplish since more offense makes the game longer but I suppose if he doesn't care about total length of the game and only cares about the pace it can work. You can also assume that anything that increases pace at the cost of a significant decrease in offense (the third strike on fouls for instance) is right off the table without even having to go into the specifics.
  12. What if the guy can't find the strike zone? He has to pitch to three batters no matter what? Way to tie the manager's hands.
  13. Angelos didn't get what he wanted. Ed Rogers didn't get what he wanted. I'd say this is a win-win.
  14. He seems like a really boring, unimaginative person and not especially well informed either, like one of those politicians who looks the part but constantly has to have someone whispering in their ears.
  15. Technically he hasn't retired yet but someone should approach him about coaching.
  16. Well good. Glad that's over.
  17. It blows my mind that in 2014, a submariner can still be under-valued. Moneyball came out in 2003! You would think that by now everyone would have read the story of Chad Bradford and how the ChiSox didn't know what they had in him but the A's did.
  18. Pigf***er has friends?
  19. That would be quite the play. I'm pretty sure both have the Jays on their no-trade.
  20. Marcum just keeps on giving to the Jays. Not so much to anybody else.
  21. The Beeston situation is definitely the lesser clusterf***. Brunt in his interview mentions that Beeston's contract actually expired so I assume he's just doing it Don Draper style these days. Sound like all you have to do is just tell him to stay home to get rid of him. I wish it would have been handled better though (not that I give a s*** about Beeston but the optics aren't great). Beeston's departure should have been announced right off the bat.
  22. Marcum, Janssen. They're not stars but they're definitely success stories.
  23. Reminds me of those stories about Leakin Park
  24. Yeah this may accelerate his exit which certainly isn't a bad thing.
