  1. The depth issues remain but the core has gotten stronger with Martin and Donaldson. No AA hasn't learned from his mistakes but he may have finally put himself in a position to get away with them (weaker A.L. East doesn't hurt).
  2. See this is one of the reasons I like LOD. In that league I would have gotten an alert when he was dropped.
  3. Yeah it's funny but Burns is one of those guys whose fantasy value could far eclipse his real life value. Someone other than Los Osos Blancos (namely me) should have picked him up.
  4. Dammit! I had him on my roster last year. Tanking and dumpster diving seems simple on the surface but even when you favour that as a goal over immediate contention, you still miss out on a lot. I didn't need to save Burns past the cut but I needed to keep closer tabs on him afterwards. I just don't do a good job of keeping on top of baseball news and developments anymore and even if I did, there's never enough roster room for all the guys with some kind of potential not to mention that you inevitably end up making the wrong cut/keep decisions because you're working with volatile assetts in the first place. The very small pool of active player in the LoD is so much more manageable than this.
  5. Selling McKinney just as he hits AA seems wise.
  6. Stumbled across this interesting Rob neyer piece on how Babe Ruth's RBI total is ********. http://www.foxsports.com/mlb/just-a-bit-outside/baseball-joe/blog/mr-rodriguez-passes-mr-ruth-except-in-real-life-052715

They are doing Norris and his van in July because of course.
  8. It really says something that that's considered encouraging.
  9. He looked awfully sharp in spring training but that may not have been representative. The optimist's view would be that he would have kept pitching like that if not for the dead arm phase. Who is the real Daniel Norris? The answer may simply be that it's too early to tell.
  10. And Slade had an alcohol issue that almost had him out of a baseball so I guess that's why the comparison came to mind. Probably more wishful thinking than anything else though. On the one the one hand, I'm just hyping him up but on the other hand, I'm genuinely intrigued. I'm a sucker for deep sleepers.
  11. Wasn't he a thing when he was really young though? Like washed out prospect makes good kind of story? That's the angle I'm going for with Slade anyways.
  12. You should trade me Puig for Span + Darvish.
  13. Interesting to look up the off-season trade dominoes and how the team shuffled around its depth. 2B is a hole so Gose becomes Travis but that exarcebates the lack of OF depth. Happ became Saunders which should have addressed the OF issue and Lind became Estrada which partially addressed the lost pitching depth from that and the Donaldson trade. Smoak, more or less, replaced Lind and since Injured/older players (and Navarro for whatever reason) need DH starts, going cheap there seems pretty smart in hindsight. Pretty good offseason that could have been downright great with a bit more payroll commitment.
  14. Seems like an obvious upgrade over Carrerra, one that would allow the Jays to maitain the cautious approach they are now pursuing with Pompey.
  15. O.K. O.K. back on point. Span is a stud. Slade Heatchott is the best post-hype breakout candidate since Evan Gattis and Preston Tucker is a legitimate power bat.
  16. lol Are you going to lower the price out of spite? If so then Boxy owes me one for turning the tables on him like this.
  17. Prediction: you end up selling Prescott for pennies on the dollar of flat out drop him.
  18. Well if you hadn't squirreled away Tucker and held him up for ransom, I might have grabbed him instead of Heathcott so this works out pretty well for me.
