    The previous offseason was pretty clearly the time to trade him. Hindsight helps but I seem to remember it was pretty widely reported that St. Louis offered us Flaherty. I like what I see with Merryweather but Ryu/Flaherty/Pearson looks pretty good.

    Sorry if this has been discussed at length but if (when) Pearson spends the full 60 games with the Jays, how does that affect his service time? It's after late April or whatever the cutoff day is...but it's a full season... Thanks

    Sorry if it's been talked about somewhere else, but this thing is nasty. Where the hell did it come from? I know he's always sorta had one, but he didn't exactly use it much and it sure never looked this good. The movement is ridiculous. He was pretty clearly holding back on the fastball tonight but with that sinker and curve he's got, this could potentially get really interesting.

    This made me take a look at Morneau's stats...WTF happened to him in 2010?? I don't really remember him being THAT good. 4.9 WAR in exactly half a season's worth of baseball?? wRC+ over 180??

    The only thing I can think of is Gibby will likely pinch hit Saunders for Upton later in the game against one of their righties and this keeps Saunders out of the outfield.

    This is exactly what I was hoping they would do. Pompey's speed on the bases could be crucial and including Goins gives us the ability to pinch-hit for Barney in late-game situations if Travis can't play. Smoak is completely useless and we don't need both Feldman and Tepera. Either one being cut would have been fine with me. Nice job on the roster.

    Would be tough to not throw Ubaldo after he made the Jays look like little leaguers on Thursday but Tillman has a good chance too.

    Yeah I have a feeling it will be Stroman, which is a little dicey.

    Happ won't be ready since he just pitched on Saturday. It's gotta be Liriano. Dude has been awesome lately and completely dominated the O's just a few days ago. Things really get interesting if they get to the ALDS when you can go with Happ on regular rest, Estrada with an extra day's rest, or a well-rested Stroman in game 1. Throw Sanchez into the mix in game 2, who would be on regular rest at that point.

    Maybe. Although from what I've experienced, americans in the Pacific Northwest tend to be better educated and not as douchey as most of their brethren.
