  1. Has Texas announced their starters yet? All I know is hamels in game 2
  2. Anybody else notice that revere is constantly getting screwed on balls/strikes?
  3. Why not both Loup and Buehrle? Martin Navarro Encarnacion Smoak Colabello Donaldson Tuliwitzki Goins Pennington Bautista Pillar Revere Pompey Price Stroman Dickey Estrada Osuna Sanchez Lowe Hendricks Hawkins Cecil Loup Buehrle I think this is what we'll see
  4. This argument is stupid. The Jays last made the playoffs 22 years ago. They missed the playoffs the last 21 years. Done.
  5. Ew. That bottom four... Why not give Hague a start at 3b?
  6. Sorry if posted already, but here's a pretty good read on Stroman's last start: http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/the-yankees-saw-a-different-marcus-stroman/
  7. What is the deal with Stroman and Joseph? I can't remember
  8. Great problem to have. I would even consider trading Tulo, restocking the farm, and putting his $20 million into the rotation. Goins at SS and Travis at 2B. But we're getting ahead of ourselves. Let's see if he can keep it up for another month.
  9. It really is fun watching many of these wannabe know-it-alls bounce back and forth from worshipping the guy his first couple years to insisting that he's terrible in 2013/2014 to once again licking his ball sack.
  10. I think you have to be pretty naive to honestly believe that in this day and age, ANY front office doesn't at least consider analytics. Sure, some will lean more heavily on them than others, but to suggest Alex doesn't use them at all or isn't aware of their existence is pretty far-fetched.
  11. I like trying Revere in leadoff and moving Tulo down to a middle of the order spot where he's likely more comfortable. A confident, productive Tulo makes this team pretty much unstoppable, if they already aren't.
  12. First time I've ever been on twitter haha
  13. Where can I read about this? Can't seem to find it.
  14. Price obviously starts every fifth game, no matter what.
  15. We used a four-man for eight games, ONLY because we had three off-days mixed in. You say Hutch is the odd man out, well who is the other odd man out if we go to four like you suggest?
  16. I agree five is the most likely, but I think six is far more likely than four.
  17. Don't see it happening, especially if we continue to lead the division. Six gives us more flexibility to set things up how we want them for the postseason, and will keep everyone fresh. You'll see either five or six once Stroman is back. I would prefer five, but I could understand their thinking of six is the way they decide to go.
  18. We have about three turns through the rotation between now and then, so whoever pitches the worst, I would assume. If everyone pitches well, then Price (obviously) and Stroman (to get him in shape and stretched out) go every five and the rest fall in line when they can. Should be fun to watch it play out.
  19. I totally understand. Carter was absolute hot grabage after '93. Just saying, for the three years he was here when the Jays were actually winning, he was a fairly important contributor. I think this sometimes gets overlooked because of just how awful he became later.
  20. Carter gets s*** on a lot on this board, and while he's definitely overrated by media and casual-types, dude was a fairly productive player for us, and even out-WARed Alomar their first year here. Here's the WAR for the first three seasons following the trade, for each of the four players involved: Carter: 4.6 ('91), 2.9 ('92) and 2.0 ('93). Avg = 3.2 Alomar: 4.3 ('91), 6.1 ('92) and 5.7 ('93). Avg = 5.4 Fernandez: 2.5 ('91), 1.5 ('92) and 3.1 ('93). Avg = 2.4 McGriff: 3.6 ('91), 5.5 ('92) and 4.5 ('93). Avg = 4.5
  21. If he does start on Sept. 12 in New York, and we keep six in the rotation, his first start at home would be Saturday, Sept. 19 against the Red Sox, which would be sweet, 'cause it's the one game I have tickets to.
  22. Keuchel and Kazmir worry me a little. Seeing those guys four or five times in a series would be tough.
  23. Doesn't take much, I guess. Go lay down before you hurt yourself.
  24. I really think Stroman is coming back as a starter, at least at first, for a few reasons. 1) Some of our guys (looking at you, Dickey and Buehrle) look like they might be tiring just a bit and could probably use an extra day off here and there. 2) Stroman is awesome and if there's any chance at all that he comes back and is anywhere close to as effective as he was last year (and there is), we want him in the rotation down the stretch and into the playoffs. 3) Less importantly, dude wants it so bad. Even if you don't think this should matter, I think he's viewed as such an important piece of the long-term puzzle, they'll try to keep him happy. As of right now, he's scheduled to make two rehab starts Sept. 2 and Sept. 7, which puts him on schedule to come back Sept. 12 in New York, so here's how the rotation is shaping up heading into the Yankees series. vs DET Dickey (4 days rest) Hutch (4) Buehrle (4) vs CLE Price (4) Estrada (4) Dickey (4) vs BAL Hutch (5) Price (4) *jumping ahead of MB here to keep Price on 4 days rest, give MB a breather, and have Price on schedule to pitch game 1 of the NY series* Buehrle (6) @BOS Estrada (5) Dickey (5) Hutch (4) @NY Price (4) Buehrle (4) STROMAN (4) Estrada (5) So now we have six in the rotation, but at this point, we'll have seen Hutch for three starts (vs DET, vs BAL, and @BOS) to see how he does, and we have lots of options with 19 games remaining to set up the rotation for the playoffs. If Hutch sucks, we can drop him and still have five; if Estrada or Dickey implodes, same thing. I guess what I'm getting at is what are everyone's thoughts on how Stroman fits in, 'cause he's coming fast.
  25. KC's pitching really doesn't scare me at all. I think we could put up some crooked numbers against that staff. Cueto has looked pretty ordinary since coming to the AL and Volquez and Ventura are both massive douchebags with pretty average numbers who I think we could really feast on by getting them off their game and having them more concerned about throwing at us than winning the series.
