    I'm bored so i'll post a lame trade proposal. Who hangs up first? Jays trade: Mark Buehrle, Colby Rasmus, Brett Cecil and DJ Davis. Jays receive from reds: Brandon Phillips, Homer Baily, Ryan Hanigan. - We get a pitcher who put up a 3.34 Xfip and has the stuff to pitch in the AL east. Fill huge black holes at catcher and second. Moving Buehrle allows us to take on the Phillips contract. Yeah, we put a black hole in CF with Gose...but i can live with an elite defender at CF who we can put 9th in the lineup.

    Agreed. For a blog that's only been around for what.. a few weeks?. This is impressive. That's why i brought up the fact that the message board link doesn't show up on my phone, tablet or work computer. It's a moot point for us who know how to get here, but for the people who appreciate these articles are the kinds of posters we want on the board. The link to message board needs to always be clear. I can only see it on my laptop at home. But yeah, great work guys....love the blog.

    Also a random thing i noticed about the blog. Sometimes when i go to the site i can't find the link to the message board. Not that i care because i know how to get here - but we could potentially be losing out on some members especially in the light of all this buzz about Chris. Specifically when i log on at work....the link can't be found. Anyone else notice this?

    Welcome to the board! Nice first post. Will say i wouldn't hate it if that's how our off season went. We absolutely need to sign at least 1 free agent starter. I prefer Kazmir or Colon. We should also trade for 1 starter without giving up Sanchez or Stroman. Samardiza i feel we could get around a package of 1. Hutch or Drabek 2. Loup or Delebar and then a couple prospects with some upside - DJ Davis, Sean Nolin and maybe Daniel Norris. We absolutely need to address catcher as you mentioned. I feel like Ryan Hanigan is an obvious solution - nice buy low that should rebound from a tough year but at worst is a huge defence upgrade. I think Mark Ellis at second base doesn't get enough attention around here, ideal fit IMO. You basically addressed all the major needs besides second base. Looking forward to talking baseball with you.

    lol what? In the sense their both 4th Of's? Other then speed.....very different skill sets. Gose is an elite defender who can't hit. Rajai is a poor defender with plus speed who hit's left handed pitching at a respectable rate.

    Yeah. Rasmus is one of my favourite players on the team. Doesn't cry about balls and strikes and plays hard. Wish we had more anti dramatic guys like him.

    Rasmus would intrigue alot of teams, but i think they would be looking for talent that's more controllable.

    Agreed. Samardija + Free agent like a Colon or Kazmir would be a nice way to boost the rotation without blowing the budget or farm. Throw in the depth at AAA and upgrade at catcher and second base and we might be onto something. Perhaps Mark Ellis and Hanigan? D

    If AA openly admitted he's been talking to the Cubs about Samardzija, he's probably not close at all in inquiring him.
