  1. Finishing 1st overall is absolutely huge!! Getting to face the wild card team is a huge advantage since we likely only face their #1 pitcher once.
  2. Thinking about purchasing mlbtv for the rest of the season. It's 24.99 right now. Can you watch Jays games or are they blacked out? Buying this so I can watch at work on my phone. Thanks. I live in Sudbury Ontario
  3. My first season really following the Jays was in 1990. I remember that huge collapse against Boston. Was heartbreaking as an 8 year old. Went to my first live game in June of 1991. Jays lost 3-1 to Seattle. Jays only run came off a HR from Kelly Gruber! Fondly remember watching both WS in 92 and 93. I remember being so mad in game 4 in 93 when the Phills took a huge lead that I shut the TV and went to bed only to find out the next morning from my Dad that they won 15-14! Good times!
  4. Noticed that capacity at the Dome is only about 46,500 now. Used to be 50k. When did 3,500 seats dissappear???
  5. Since I started this thread might as well give my opinion! Pure power the edge would have to go to the current squad. Top 4 guys have legit 30+ HR power while Carter would be the only true power hitter on the 1993 club. Speed would have to go to the 1993 club. You've got Henderson, Alomar, Fernandez who are all legit speed threats. Revere and to a certain extent Travis are the only real threats on the current club. Contact would have to go to the 1993 club. You've got Alomar, Olerud, Fernandez and Molitor who are all career .290+ hitters. Bench Hands down the current squad has a better bench. Overall If I had to choose I still think the 1993 club is better all around from top to bottom. 1 through 7 on that team is just unreal! Borders is really the only weak link on the team. Overall that team just provides more consistency throughout the order. My 2 cents anyway
  6. With all the discussion lately about how offensively talented the current squad is. How do you think they stack up to the 1993 squad? Discuss. 1993 Starters LF Ricky Henderson CF Devon White 2B Roberto Alomar RF Joe Carter DH Paul Molitor 1B John Olerud SS Tony Fernandez 3B Ed Sprague C Pat Borders Bench OF Rob Butler OF Will Canate IF Alfredo Griffin C Randy Knorr 2015 Starters SS Troy Tulowotzki 3B Josh Donaldson RF Jose Bautista DH Edwin Encarnacion C Russell Martin 1B Justin Smoak CF Kevin Pillar 2B Devin Travis LF Ben Revere Bench INF Ryan Goins INF Cliff Pennington UTI Chris Collabello C Dioner Navarro
  7. I'm going to Thursdays game vs Minny. It's a 707pm start. Anyone happen to know what time batting practice starts?? Also approx.what time do the gates open? Thanks!!
  8. Thanks for the input. Decided to just buy through the Jays website. Got tix right at 3rd base 19 rows up. Seem like good seats. Should be fun!
  9. Heading down to TO for the game tomorrow afternoon. I'm just curious would I be better off to buy tickets ahead online or will I be able to score a better deal off a scalper. I know in the past I have always bought from scalpers at significantly below box office price. Looking for decent seats in the 100 or 200 level along 1st or 3rd base line, will need 6 tickets. P.S. Did anyone buy tickets today off a scalper and did you get a better deal. I see there was 45,000+ and I would suspect the same for tomorrow. Thanks for your input.
  10. Call me a purist, but I hate this new umpire challenge system. Slows down the game way too much. Baseball is already a slow enough sport without adding this extra wrinkle. What makes it even slower is now on any remotely close play managers are coming out of the dugout to chat with the ump so their replay team can take a look at the play and relay whether or not to challenge back to the managers. They need to do something about this. Managers shouldn't be able to come out of the dugout at will like that. I can see this getting really out of hand and turning a lot of people off. What's wrong with having a bit of human element involved. I can see maybe having reviews on scoring plays only, but to be able to review any close call is ridiculous. There are so many close plays every game, games are gonna end up lasting 4 hours+. Red Sox-Yankees games are gonna take so long there gonna need an intermission.
  11. That's the record we have to put up after the AS break to have a shot at a wild card spot. It's likely going to take 92 wins+ based on current standings. Things are definatively looking bleak. Even if we have a great 2nd half, playing at a near. 700 clip for the remainder of the season is near impossible. Time to look at trading some pieces away to try ans start rebuilding the farm. In the words of Vince Carter IT'S OVER.
  12. I think we need to be thinking shorter term right now. We need both short and long term goals, another good goal would be to win every series for the remainder of the month. We do that and we're right back in the thick of things. We need to start winning cconsistently now.
  13. I think for us to have any chance at the post season we need to be at or near. 500 by the end of this month. We would need to go 14-4 until the end of the month to get back to. 500. Though daunting it's not impossible. Winning this series in Boston would be a good start.
