  1. If the Jays make the playoffs, which I maintain are still easy to make, the Atkins haters will have to admit defeat. No other GM in the league could pull that off when his star 1B becomes replacement level, a Top 3 Cy Young finisher eats his way out of the league, his All-Star UT infielder becomes a 0, his young 4 WAR catcher is worth 1.5, a 4.5 WAR CF who forgets how to hit, etc. Close to worst case scenarios for several core players but the team he built was so damn good it's making the playoffs anyway.
  2. It'd be hilarious if it wasn't so sad to watch
  3. So after tonight a 6-5 record mathematically guarantees us a spot in the playoffs, which will be easy to make. EDIT: Actually I think it's 6-4?
  4. Great ideas but I bet they do something close to this already. But then what?
  5. Good idea. We should build a jail cell with a giant hamster wheel inside of it down at the complex in Dunedin. Option Kirk to the FCL and lock him in there and only give him access to water and a head of lettuce each day until the playoffs start. Crank the heat up to 120 degrees as well. By the time playoffs start call him back up and he should be a good 30 pounds lighter. The World Series will be easy to make.
  6. I'm a fan! Remember? https://www.bluejaysmessageboard.com/threads/11136-Announcement-from-the-Sheriff
  7. Lol good luck with that
  8. You guys are nuts lol. No way we cut bait on Kirk simply bc he's fat in order to "send a message."
  9. Yeah and if he doesn't do it in the offseason then benching him or optioning him are on the table?
  10. That's my point. You and masturbator are saying that there are ways to deal with fat players and options was mentioned multiple times. Other than that or benching him what are you suggesting?
  11. Varsho isn't hitting but his other acquisitions are like KK and Belt. It's not their fault the offense sucked. What bats were available? Tommy Pham but he's been outproduced by Schneider. Who else?
  12. So are you guys saying we should bench Kirk bc he's fat and play Heineman?
  13. The Rangers get tons of credit for playing the Angels and then you ignore Hou playing KC so I'm convinced you are just trolling at this point and I'm done replying lol
  14. We've got a great shot. Our schedule is probably harder than anyone other than the Mariners but with the AL West teams playing each other so many times it's going to be tough for all of them to leap frog us, and it's downright impossible if we play well. 7-4 and we are guaranteed to get in. 6-5 and it's almost a statistical certainty. Drop the record all the way to 4-7 and we still have about a 60% chance of getting in. It seems weird to think that 4-7 gets us in still but the Mariners and Rangers need to split their games 4-3 AND sweep or win two of their other 3 games for them both to pass us. That's not impossible but when broken down you can see why our odds are so high right now despite only having a 1 game lead and not holding the tiebreakers. http://www.playoffstatus.com/mlb/bluejayswhatif.html
  15. Yeah tonight is a big game. Gausman vs. King tonight and the Yanks have Cole on the hill tomorrow. Need to get the W tonight.
  16. Everyone has a plan until a plate of tacos punches you in the mouth
  17. Great guy to have on the bench down the stretch and in the playoffs. Would prefer to keep Clement over Espinal though.
  18. He is DHing almost full time now and Harper is playing 1B since his elbow is apparently now good enough. But yeah that was a huge issue for them.
  19. His DRS and OAA are both about -20 with 100 games in LF. If he had strictly DH'd all year I think he'd actually gain about 1 WAR.
  20. Sorry ass Red Sox
  21. Yankees are one of the better hitting teams against LHP. Kooch will need to pitch well.
  22. Snell gets the Rockies tonight in SD and could put up a big start. The Rockies have the worst road offense in baseball with a slashline of .231/.290/.364 as the visiting team. They are also the 2nd worst worst team against lefties with a .678 OPS. He's dominated the Rockies in two starts this year with 21 Ks and 1 BB in 11.1 innings. One start at home and one at Coors.
  23. Jays BA with RISP has been good since August.
  24. Would love to see them abolish the divisions altogether and just go AL and NL with the top 6 making the playoffs and the top 2 getting byes. Would make the standings so much easier to look at. They could even make getting the top record in each league special by calling that the "Pennant". So for example if the Braves get the top record in the NL this year they win the "National League Pennant".
