  1. He caught 9 innings on Friday, didn't play yesterday and 1st tonight. Not sure why he isn't catching more but I think his bat could play at 1st...guy also has some speed..almost beat out a routine grounder to short. I'm surprised they're keeping both him and Jansen in Dunedin.
  2. Me too. I thought he was much older but he's only 21, 3 yrs younger than Pentecost. Seems like he's been around longer.
  3. Some observations fro the game tonight in Dunedin. T.J was better than his line shows. His fastball was in the low 90's topping out at 94 but his slider was electric...a lot of swings and misses. Even tho he was charged with 2 runs, he should have pitched a shoutout. With 2 runners on in the 6th, Kelly misplayed a line drive which could have got him out of the inning. Eller allowed the second runner to score. Danny Jansen continues to impress...towering HR to left and a great job of handling T.J.'s slider...blocks everything. Vicuna doesn't look out of place at SS, especially with the glove but I think he is just place-setting until Gurriel is healthy.
  4. Any news on Vlady?
  5. I looked at Zimmerman and Harper but was scared off by Thor.
  6. Would love to see Jones up before i leave Dunedin on May 7 but I doubt that will happen. I will, however, spend a few days in Lansing when I get home.
  7. Me too.
  8. All affiliates won today. You missed Alford with a HR and 7th stolen base. Good night for some of the top prospects.
  9. Missed the game yesterday because I saw that Howell was starting. Should have known that he wouldn't be in long...missed Pentecost's HR and double also. Hope to catch T.J. once more before I leave.
  10. While the big team is s***ing the bed, some of the prospects are off to a great start. Bo and Brad Jones are 1st and 2nd in BA in low A, Jansen 2nd in High A, Alford leading the league in AA and Dwight Smith having a good year in Buffalo. Looks like there is some hope for the future.
  11. He was at extended due to a hamstring injury...maybe reinjured it. Really want to see him play a bit before I leave.
  12. Looks like I missed a good game tonight in Dunedin. Gurriel finally playing with the Baby Jays. Pentecost, Biggio and Kelly continue to hit...Perdomo with a good outing. Looking forward to watching Zeuch tomorrow.
  13. I saw Reyes the other day but was watching Pentecost and Gurriel on another diamond...just noticed how big he looked. Will spend more time following him. Thanks.
  14. I remember those 2 names now. Will keep an eye out for them.
  15. Thanks for the kind words. Retirement is treating me well. I love coming down here in April to watch Dunedin Jays and extended spring.Girlfriend heads back tomorrow , so I can spend more time at the parks. Not much to watch at extended now that Pentecost has been reinstated with Dunedin and Palacios is in Lansing. I'm not familiar with some of the players from the DSL but if there's someone you can think of, let me know and I'll keep an eye out for them. Gurriel is the only one I want to watch right now. As for the start of the Dunedin season, other than Pentecost, it would be Juan Kelly. He never gives up an at bat..always working the pitcher. Don't how he projects however...he is short for a 1st baseman and the Jays don't need another DH type. Jansen is also having a great year and Biggio shows some promise. Will see Zeuch tomorrow night.
  16. They stole second twice but Romano was responsible for one of them, not holding the runner close. The game went into extra innings and I left after the ninth... Jansen came into the game to replace Max. From what I saw, he looked good behind the plate but i'm no catching expert.
  17. Pentecost catching tonight in Dunedin.
  18. Pentecost did not catch tonight ( DH). I wonder if he still needs more work or he may be alternating with Jansen who is on fire.Tale of 2 Boruckis tonight. First 4 innings he was lights out, striking out a ton with an incredible slider and a 92-94 mph fastball topping out at 96. Had an error behind him in the 5th and it seemed to unnerve him..got hit hard in the 5th and 6th. I'm really starting to like Juan Kelly..he really battles at the plate fouling off a number of pitches his second at bat before lining a double into the gap. Btw, Pentecost should have had better results at the plate..hit a bullet to right fielder and next at bat put one on the roof behind the bullpen just foul opposite field. Would have been one of the longest homeruns I've seen at Florida Exchange.
  19. No sign of Pentecost at the complex today...hopefully he'll be catching tonight for Dunedin. Gurriel played today, not sure of his timetable or placement, although he's listed on the Dunedin roster. Will report after the game tonight.
  20. They wanted him to get some work in catching, so rather than putting him on the Dunedin team DL, they just assigned him to Vancouver. He caught today in extended spring and you can read his progress in my post ( news from Dunedin) They will re-assign him when Dunedin returns home this coming week. Expect him to catch some games next week for Dunedin Jays.
  21. Can you let me know if I'm in? Keep getting sign up message.
  22. From a friend who stayed to watch the rest of the game this morning- Pentecost threw out a runner stealing second easily and handled everything behind the plate flawlessly. Meanwhile Gurriel played 3rd on the other diamond and my friend was impressed that he ranged to his right on a slow roller, looked the runner back and still threw out the guy at first. He also hit a deep HR to left after 2 doubles yesterday...one to each field. I am excited about this kid. Off day tomorrow. Will be at the Dunedin game on Monday.
