  1. he had that one that was foul by a couple feet that would have been a double the other day too....EE is going to go on a run here soon.
  2. tampa continuing to slip. If this continues, I can't help but be intrigued by where Price will go and how much a team will be willing to pay. I think the Yankees will be in on him, but not sure if they have anything to offer...
  3. see...this is where we differ in opinion. We should just sign drew and be done with it anyways...or trade for Utley mid season!
  4. both were nice...but the Revere one still has my vote.
  5. I'm too lazy to check the actual date kawa was sent down..but I thought someone said he was eligible to come up tomorrow...when is he eligible to return.
  6. You can either have goins be a crappy offensive player for his entire career or you can send him down now while there's still a chance for development and let him work to become a better offensive player to become a better mlb player. Getz can be a worse player and it's the right move....you're completely missing the point. Short term pain for long term gain.
  7. Hope it's Kawa...I could use some entertainment.....they should bring up Mastro too while they are at it. 2 hits, 2 stolen bases...dfa sierra.
  8. You're talking about very small sample sizes. The smaller the sample size the larger the margin of error...regardless....Goins has a .203 OBP. He needs regular at bats. He needs to work on things. He can't do the things he needs to do in the majors to become a better player for the long term. Short tem Getz adds a speed element that is lacking with the Jays. He's a better bat right now and his defense isn't bad either. It's a shame Izzy went down, but I don't know how you can say sending goins down is the wrong move. It's Getz tomorrow could be Kawa soon..but goins is where he needs to be.
  9. I never said you simply look at errors....defense is extremely difficult to judge. Errors are not a completely useless statistic, just like advanced defensive statistics not useless....it's a puddle of grey in a world where people desire black and white....two people can very much subjectively argue this team or that team is better defensively using whatever statistics or observations they choose and no one is more right than other. Offensive and pitching statistics present a much clearer picture imo.
  10. I've read plenty. It's voodoo science. Am I not entitled to an opinion..lol. You're free believe there's no margin of error in those statistics if you choose.
  11. defensive statistics...voodoo science
  12. regardless of what the statistics say, Lawrie's mechanics have been better of late. He's not near as quick with his lower half and he's not getting stuck like he was early in the season. His approach seems a bit better. It looks like he's just reacting to the ball a bit more, but he had a couple bat hacks yesterday mixed in with 2 great at bats. His approach is still a work in progress, but his average is going to climb.
  13. fearthedoc made me giggle...
  14. Markets are defined by population. The greater Toronto market is the 4th largest sporting market by population in North America. New York, LA and Chicago have 2 clubs each to divide fans. The Jays also draw on fans from across Canada. The Jays have lost a generation of fans, by not competing. If they actually made the playoffs the fan base would grow. We are not a baseball first market by any means with Hockey being number one, but look at the Raps. If we win, fans will come and revenues will grow. As it is the Jays have the highest average ticket price in the league. The Jays just need to build a winner and spending the money would make sense if it was allocated properly.
  15. I triple dog dare you to say something positive about the jays.
  16. yes...mastro is the guy..we need the right handed bat
  17. I can't believe sierra is still on this roster...I'm no gose fan..but at least he has speed.
  18. you can't make a play when a ball is hit as hard as Edwin hit it and it finds the gap.....when a ball is hit as hard as Edwin hit it.....a fast player only gets a couple more steps than a slow player because it was hit hard on a line...
  19. lawrie is taking more close pitches...covering the plate...he's going to be hitting .270 in a month
  20. yes...hitting the ball hard...bad...hitting blop singles and grounders finding holes...good.
  21. f***ing red sox....can we please just beat these guys just once
