To each their own. If you're sitting in the 500's you're probably right, but of the negative reasons you cite: price, casuals and loud drunk fans, are also consistent with playoff games too. The more interest there is in a game the more those three factors will rise as well.
The 200 level only has 12 rows so you're not dealing with as many drunken idiots with short bathroom and food/drink lines. It is definitely cheaper to go Saturday and Sunday, and even cheaper to go to weekday games if price is your biggest factor.
In terms of excitement and atmosphere opening day introduces the players and the game is consistently loud and intense, and typically more memorable than your typical Sunday game vs the rangers. So it really just depends what you're after. Even at that price point it is much cheaper than a night of entertainment from the leafs or raptors.
