If we are going to field Gose in center , Goins at 2nd and Melky at DH we might as well blow the whole frigging team up and trade EE ,Bautista ,Dickless, Rasmus ,Eat money on Reyes Buehrle ,Lind and dump them and play for the #1 frigging pick . That is one thing we could actually win.

As bad as some think AA is HE knows this is the biggest hole both defensively and offensively . JPA should have been optioned down soon after the allstar break . This will be AA,s first priority and I expect him to overpay to get Ruiz . Hell Everyone would love McCann but I'm realistic as to who we can get .

I would agree with that IF we have all the money needed to upgrade but i look at the 2b position as the 3rd priority . Getting a catcher is #1 . Getting 2 catchers is probably even more important. Then the Rotation is #2 priority . A decent catcher , some health, and improved defense will boost the rotation quite a bit .

Agreed , Not really a good investment IF you could put that money plus his signing amt towards getting a top of rotation type guy like Garza. Unfortunately we don't seem to be able to get those guys . I really wanted Darvish but Hindsight is always 20 20 . Can we we attract a De La Rosa ?? possibly but Garza Types ? Americans want to play in the US .I just think AA strikes out again in the FA market and I have no faith in Morrow or Romero so WTF , go get this kid .

Improving the defense is priority #1 and the catcher position is the most glaring of those holes . I was firmly behind JPA improving this year but that didn't happen so we need to move on . Obviously McCann is the far superior option here . Power left handed bat that is decent defensively but i really don't expect that . I like Suzuki or Chooch . both would be great . Top of rotation pitching is priority #2 but there just aren't a lot of guys that fill that bill and they will have tons of suitors . Not one has wanted to come here since AJ so we may have to pray the current group rebounds . I like Jorge De La Rosa as a guy we might be able to get .

Wouldn't surprise me if TV ratings were down this year after the brutal start and lackluster season

I will say that most on this board would not have moved all that talent from the farm . I certainly wouldn't have but we certainly don't know what pressures or circumstances AA was facing . I couldn't have my cake and eat it too . Money was there (Pushed on AA by management/ownership) and to me it was obvious AA couldn't get free agents to sign here . Then add the perfect storm that had the AL east up for grabs and our own aging stars . Me I hope this is like the Dodgers situation where the team didn't gel until the next year and even then not at the start then went on an unbelievable run that is still going . I expect the offense to be solid next year , BP should be a strength so shore up the rotation and improve the defense . Biggest disappointment other than the starters has been the terrible defense . Melky has been a disaster , Boni and Micer can't play even passable defense on turf and No need to say what we have got behind the plate ' AA knows what the team needs and has already said we have the cash. Health would go a long way to filling those needs

The calls for Stroman to be brought up now are absolute stupidity . Sure there are some on the 40 man roster that are wofos ( Waste of f***ing oxygen ) but in a year that we are now better off finishing lower in the standings and getting a better draft pick plus wasting an option year on Stroman like we did with one start of Nolin would be sheer stupidity .

I can't believe this thread was about comparing Kawasaki to Reyes . I know our defense up the middle sucked this year but Reyes was the least of that disaster . AA needs to concentrate his efforts behind the plate where it is needed and forget the Bonifacio disaster . Those two steps would win us games . Reyes at short is the least of AA,s worries.

Arod tried to make a deal with the Yankees too but they wouldn't talk to him. I think they hope he gets the suspention for a year and a half then by that time is too old and hurt all the time and insurance picks up the tab . The union and thus most of the players want a clean game and will not support him . I think they have data that he not only tried to cover up the issue and buy off they paper trail but also has been linked for a long time using . He also is linked to Galea the canadian HGH doctor and did test positive in their first sample test . I think they will win this and he will be suspended for at least a whole season
