  1. I'm one who is in full agreement with the 5 year max. Right now I can't think of one 7 year deal that has been a good sign . Boras keeps crying and the jays will Never sign one of his players.
  2. I won't be at all Vik. I think it is his job to lose in ST right now. Course that all depends on the budget and if Melky walks. If AA has more money than i think he has and can attract some free agents then I can see him at least starting in AAA. It would make sense but I still see the budget being cut and Pompey with a good ST would add the hype AA needs. Wonder if the Royals would be interested in Lind. Rumor is they aren't going to exercise Butler,s option and they will need a starter too so dollars could be tight . not sure they would move a BP piece after their stellar playoff run.
  3. Jays now have Dirks, Gose, Bautista, Mayberry, out of Options and Pompey and Pillar with options. Certainly AA has built depth if Melky doesn't accept a QO which most feel he won't but not all of Dirks, Mayberry and Valencia will make the team. Dirks can't play CF, at least not well. With Lawrie,s health I see Valencia making the team and I still think Pompey plays everyday in the majors so it will be interesting to see if Mayberry gets cut.
  4. I don't have a source. googled it and all I got was "" Long been rumored that Riccardi was not the one who spearheaded the Wells signing "" However I well remember the signing and Riccardi stating early in the year that the Jays could not commit that much of their budget to one player which was true. Godfrey and rogers then raised the budget dramatically and the Wells deal was done. Rogers was worried about the impact that losing Wells would do to attendance and TV viewership. Much as I hated JPR that was one deal he was right on.
  5. Rogers did this to JP Riccardi too . He told them they couldn't afford Wells. He was dead against signing Wells. They gave him a budget and said it did not include the Wells deal then pull the rug out from him. I see a pattern here with Rogers. I hated JPR but he was right in the Wells decision. I would suggest the next GM see this history and not go whole hog like AA did when ownership wants to make a splash ie the Mets trade.
  6. AA was given a 3 year mandate, They wanted him to go a year earlier and he said it was too early. It was still too early but he did it and then Rogers put a halt and now they are pulling the plug. I hope future GM,s learn a lesson from this when the rebuild starts. If AA was given a mandate to rebuild right now trading the assets he has the jays could be younger and better in 3 years ,but unfortunately Rogers will not allow him to do that
  7. BA,s top ten starting with the AL East . Boston and Baltimore done, Jays up on November 5 th
  8. Agreed totally but where does AA cut the budget which I believe he has to. You can't replace Lind,s bat for the dollars. Only Moogy can do that. I still expect Buehrle to be moved too.
  9. Of course they can break the lease which is what they were talking to the city about . If they go to court they will have to pay the full amount.
  10. I think the smoak claim was a worthwhile gamble especially if your moving Lind to clear costs . He is at least replacement level and could give some upside. Hendricks is just eating up a roster spot . Nessey is nothing special and I,m sure Hendricks will clear waivers to pitch in Buffalo but he is eating a 40 man spot. More garbage on the 40 man
  11. No , it just a realistic look at what i think will happen this off season . This way when nothing good happens I can't be disappointed unlike the bunch who will be posting sign Lester and Martin and Robertson and Headley and then bitching and crying about AA when they sign elsewhere. AA had less money than even I thought he would last year and i was the most pessimistic. I expect the same.
  12. I have absolutely NO EXPECTATIONS for this off season NONE! So this is just a prime example of my expectations.
  13. Wins aren't going to be added . AA is going to give us the spiel about adding defense and speed and a better Bull Pen when all he is doing is cutting the budget as per Rogers orders. I'm expecting an OF of Gose, Pompey, and Bautista so we will have replacement level players at catcher , 1st base ,2nd base, 60 % of the time at 3rd and at least 1 OF position. last off season I had expectations . I have none this year in fact I firmly believe the budget is going down Any Additions will be a bonus to me.
  14. I'm already prepared for the worst. An infield of Smoak, Goins, Reyes, and Valencia for 60 % Lawrie 40 %. Any Upgrade from that is a bonus
  15. Better than Encarnacion. I had thought EE would be average at 1st but he isn't very good
  16. It is a business and getting a 3 year deal vs 1 year at probably less money is something you have to take. I'm pissed but I do understand the process. Gibby should be the one who is embarrassed after throwing Mottola under the bus to hire his friend . Unfortunately I really liked Seitzer,s approach especially with all the shifts teams put on now.
  17. Liked this claim a lot better before looking at his numbers. Meh ! I'm already prepared for a cost cutting offseason so anything good will be a surprise for me.
  18. I like the waiver claim but I highly doubt he produces as much as Lind. That said I do think Lind is on his way out of TO and really AA is selling high on Lind if he moves him . Wow Just looked at the #,s on Fangraphs Did not realize he was that bad, only glimmer of hope is his away numbers
  19. I expect an outfield of Gose , Pompey, and Bautista with the 4th OF either Pillar or Mayberry. AA will talk about wanting to adding speed and defense and point to KC ,s success. If melky is resigned which i highly doubt I expect Lind to be moved for a bull pen piece
  20. Certainly one of AA,s better waiver claims. I can see Safeco getting in his head and a new hitting coach and playing in the AL east ballparks turning him around . Sure it is a long shot but well worth the 25 k waiver cost.
  21. Taveras dying in a car accident is sad as I had watched his career closly after drafting him in low A ball but losing a couple of Canadian solders to Muslim terrorists is devastating as it hurts all Canadians
  22. Christ I can just imagine what a new stadium would cost in Montreal what with all the graf and kickbacks that would have to be paid . Course Quebecers wouldn't have to pay for it as they get all their money from the Ontario and Alberta taxpayers. As A long time Expo fan that City does NOT deserve a team. Moot point as right now the Rays have a lease agreement that runs thru 2027. ST. PETERSBURG — Talks between the Tampa Bay Rays and city officials about the team's lease at Tropicana Field have stalled, largely because team officials say they won't pay the city any compensation if the Rays leave the stadium before the contract expires in 2027, according to two City Council members. That hardline stance was the Rays' response to a city offer allowing the team to move to a new stadium if it agrees to pay an undisclosed amount for every year remaining on its lease and to pay for demolition costs of the Trop and any outstanding debt on the stadium, said City Council Member Bill Dudley.
  23. Not much offense available and I expect AA to low ball him but other teams to give him a 4 year deal. I'm not really sure the jays can afford him either. I expect an OF of Gose , Pompey and Bautista.
  24. After last years guys signing 1 year low deals and the way teams value draft picks does Melky accept the est 15.3 mil Qualifying offer.
  25. Davis signed with the Red Sox a week or so ago. So much for loyalty. Gibby threw Mottola under the bus after a decent year to hire his buddy from his KC days and Seitzer jumps ship as soon as he can. Couldn't reach a deal ?? WTF I do not think it is a good thing to keep changing coaches .
