Having AA lie for them just pissed me off. The DFJ article totally expressed my view of Rogers. As it stated Rogers have done a great job of convincing the casual fan this is a small market.

According to Cotts the Jays spent 137,177,000 in 2014. Any off season moves are dependent on the budget. Many suggest signing a Lester or a Schertzer and that would take 17 to 25 million. I think it is realistic for posters to account for budget in their off season suggestions/dreams.

Pompey has only 165 ABs above A ball. Great to have him performing so well but he needs to be at AAA for more than 53 ABs Planning for an OF of Pompey, Gose, Pillar and Bautista would indicate to me a severe budget cut.

As the article by DFJ points out, how many bad contracts do the big spenders give out and forget about . How many has Cashman done! Only small market GM,s get slaughtered for making any mistakes. AA got the increase and all the so called experts in the game picked the Jays to win . They all liked his deals and only a few looked at the talent given up as a negative. A lot of factors went in the bad 2013 season but only a small market mentality goes all stop 1 year into a 3 year plan.

The previous posts pretty much cover how i feel but I would add that As DFJ points out in the article Rogers has done a great job making fans think this is a small market team. Hell they had me convinced. Then the board started pointing out TV viewership . Toronto area population . This is at worst still a top ten market and only if the dollar really sinks does it fall out of the top ten.

All a matter of opinion . you consider that a big IF . I think it is a fact of how things went down.

Definitely never been a DJF fan but he put my thoughts on paper perfectly. If they think they can make more money losing than committing to the $$ to win they would rather lose.

If you recall back before the Marlins deal Rogers wanted to increase payroll by signing free agents . AA stated it was too early in the rebuild which it was. The next year AA chsnges directions and makes the deals. The change in direction was clearly ownership driven. A lot of factors went into the dismal 2013 season including injuries but the main point was this move was at least 1 year too early in the rebuild. At the same time Rogers signs a hockey deal and gets a new president. You and everyone else on this board were suggesting what could be done with the expected extra money AA was going to have to fix this team . Now we all know he had NONE. I don't like getting LIED to by Rogers. They kept stating AA had money and had Him Lie and say he had money when he didn't. I can understand Rogers not wanting to put more money into this team until it proved itself but then at the deadline it was well reported AA had no more budget to add players. Don't lie to the fanbase. One thing AA has done that our previous two GM,s didn't is draft some high end talent. Yes in hindsight the deals were bad and a lot of us including me stated we would not have traded that much talent away. Yes like I suggested he should have dealt Rasmus when he had value but Rogers cutting off the funds when you are 1 year into a 3 year plan was stupid on their part.

I whined and bitched about Navarro,s defense all year and without even bringing up pitch framing I believe his defense cost more games than his offense added. But it is a moot point . All AA and Gibby look at is his bat. We are stuck with him at 5 m il for another year. Hopefully he comes to camp in shape this year.

1) Rogers/ Beeston. You don't go into the 2nd year of a Go For It move by cutting off the funds. 2) AA , In spite of the lack of funds some moves could have been made. We went into this season with below replacement level players at 2nd and catcher ,No bench and no positional depth and a bunch of injury prone players. 3) Bullpen In spite of all the previous s*** had the bullpen been as good as it was the year before the jays might still be in a wild card race.

The bull pen rebuild will depend on the budget . 140 million would be enough to add a very good BP arm but if Rogers cheaps out then AA will have to get lucky on some BP Arms. morrow wants to start and some one will give him that chance so I still see Sanchez in the BP
