I haven't actually looked at it but they brought up a lot of guys they probably wouldn't have had to add to their 40 man. Guys with talent they won't be able to remove from the 40 man or they would lose

wish AA could get a couple of BORING players like Cobb, Archer , Smyly, Kiemaier etc etc -
Jay, much as I would love to out of that 5 mil deal I don't see the Jays getting away from Navy. The hope I have is he is in a contract year and theyt could dangle a carrot saying they would like to extend him but he would have to get in shape and improve his defense. that is how i would approach it and have him get a PT.

JPA is one of 60 !!!! Rangers have used 60 players this year. Think how ugly their 40 man roster decisions will be this off season.

just listened to him on the radio yesterday in his usual spot on Power alley. Still sounded positive as always. Wonder if the losing just overwhelmed him . Lots of controversy over his wanting Darvish to pitch again this year.

I mused about that in an earlier post and he then went out and bombed the next start. If he finishes the next 3 or 4 starts he gets then I can see it as a possibility but really it is mostly depending on budget. AA has said the budget is set at the end of the year and is dependent on TV revenue and attendance. Attendance is down big time so I'm one who sees the budget going down . If it goes down too much then say good bye to Happ/Happless Edit Attendance is down over 132,000 so far , Aprox 2000 a game -
Bandit do you have the link to where it shows the jays are -94 runs so far this year do to pitch framing. Extra strikes called against us VS the sties we don't get due to Navarro,s framing . Now that is a real Eye opening read.

That Navy is below replacement level because of his defense is not anything to be surprised over. His defensive woes and unwillingness to get in shape have been talked about since his days in Tampa. That said his bat is has been a breath of fresh air over JPA,s woes. The Jays had coach work with JPA to fix his defense and it worked . He became a decent enough defender and above average framer. We aren't getting away from Navarro and Martin will get paid way more than AA is willing or able to pay. So unless we want to be terrible again next year I suggest they lay down the law about coming to camp in shape and get him a coach to work on his defense. It is not like the guy doesn't have talent which is why i hate his defense so much.

He was pretty valuable for us this year notonly in how he pitched but that he has options so when we needed a fresh arm he could be sent down . Both Gose and him are out of options next year so we lose that ability
