  1. Travis is still eligible because he was still on the 40 man. Since Thole signed a major league deal had had to be added to the 25 man. Its interesting that he didnt sign a minor league deal with the Jays so they could avoid this (not that the Jays really lose anything - as mentioned they won't burn an option on Travis. Sucks that Travis loses some money though I guess) - maybe he had other offers?
  2. since the move was made before rosters expanded in order to get Thole eligible for postseason, we needed a 25 man spot i guess. Travis was optioned to open up that spot.
  3. I thought he just has to be in the org at all prior to Sept 1
  4. One of the best wins of the year
  5. What a horrible call not pinch hitting your hottest hitter and letting the worst hitter in the league bat for himself. Horrible
  6. We must have the least Durable middle infield in the league
  7. Have the jays ever beat up on one of these s*** ballers this year?
  8. It takes the league a while to pick up on things. First relief pitching was undervalued, then OBP was undervalued, then defensive shifts. Soon we may see the rise of the 6 man rotation!
  9. Thanks for this - I feel like this is the obvious optimal lineup. It basically writes itself. best hitter #2, best power hitter #4, best contact hitter #1, good power in 3 and 5 spots, 6-9 in decreasing order. MAYBE you could flip Saunders and Upton to give Upton more of a chance to run before the big guys get up
  10. No, not really. MLB teams are averaging about 475 plate appearances from the 9th spot in the lineup this year, compared to 588 plate appearances from the leadoff spot. Its just basic numbers and probability - the higher in the batting order you are the more likely you are to get an extra AB in a game. Who do we want getting those extra at bats, Barney or someone good?
  11. bottom of the 9th jays are down by 1 with 2 outs. Who do you want up - Darwin Barney? or one of the 13 players on the jays who have a higher wRC+ than him in the 2nd half (this list includes Aaron Sanchez) (11 players not including travis and bautista who are hurt) I fail to see how the lineup is irrelevant.
  12. What ever happened to this blog? I'm looking back at the post on TIPS and realized there hasn't been any new content. Also, now that a few years have passed, what are everyone's thoughts on TIPS? it seemed revolutionary to me at the time but doesn't seem like it has gained much traction.
  13. Yeah it's difficult to project too far in the future. All the more reason to like the deals our guys are on - not a whole lot of commitment if one of them shits the bed
  14. Smoak 8 wRC+ last 30 days
  15. I'm sure hes just giving Travis a day off like he likes to do for all the players. When was his last day off?
  16. Mupton has been a LF lately so I can only assume this is for him.
  17. Goins has got to go
  18. Agreed 100%. He's looked like s*** at ss. Cecil did his job, shouldn't have even faced Ramirez.
  19. Travis is our best contact hitter and it was a fastball count with 1 out. It was a good call with a chance to backfire and it did
  20. Tulo ss Goins 2b was the best dp combo I have seen personally
