  1. The deadline is actually moved to August 1 this year for some reason, it will be back to July 31 next year
  2. Chavez and morales are about all you missed. 4 bullpen arms and a starter. This is 99% Alex's team still.
  3. As an unbiased outsider, I remember reading the conversation and I thought he was 100% serious
  4. Lf has priority over ss. Barney and lake just showed how that should look
  5. Well it appears barney was just taking all the way the whole at bat considering the pitch he took for strike 3
  6. so would we say the rangers are lucky so far this year, or the jays unlucky?
  7. Sanchez could remain a starter if he doesn't lose effectiveness: http://m.bluejays.mlb.com/news/article/185246490/blue-jays-gm-ross-atkins-discusses-season MLB.com: What is the latest on Sanchez going to the bullpen? Atkins: I think often times in the industry, people will follow norms that obviously can be informative, but we have to make sure we individualize it and are working off the information that Aaron and the league and offences that are playing against him are giving us. So, how he's feeling, how he's performing objectively and subjectively; not necessarily the results, but in terms of release point, in terms of velocity and spin rate. As we see those things potentially changing, then we'll start to consider what the best thing is for him. This is an easy one for the most part, because he has a chance to really be a game-changing starter for the rest of his career and we wouldn't want to impact that in a negative way.
  8. Hard Swing = lots of energy (E) Bat speed = angular velocity (w) the relationship between these is given by E=0.5(I)(w)^2 I is the moment of inertia, which is what everyone is talking about here. It can be expressed as the product of the mass of the object and the square of the average distance of the center of mass of the object from the axis of rotation. Assuming you always swing with the same effort, if you put more of the mass farther away from the axis of rotation, your moment of inertia will be larger and your bat speed will be slower in order to keep the energy constant. so there is in fact a question about how fast your bat will be, even if you are swinging hard. This is why guys like David Eckstein choke up so much, so they can actually get some bat speed despite being super weak and not being able to put much energy into their swing. i.e not swinging hard, but still getting bat speed. It's also why you get better results swinging at inside pitches than outside ones - your bat is closer to the axis of rotation. Hope I've cleared up some of your confusion, and that you will stop resorting to insults when you clearly have very little understanding of the subject matter.
  9. How much money do we reasonably expect Ross Atkins to make?
  10. Martin maybe. Stroman obviously doesn't actually know very much about pitching. You hear it all the time, "I had to become more of a pitcher and less of a thrower" - the pitchers who are talented enough to make it to MLB usually just blow it by everyone and don't have to actually learn how to pitch until they get to the point Stroman is at right now
  11. point was, why is he craving updates on something so insignificant. 90% of these kids will sign. then we will never hear about most of them again
  12. If Stroman fails with this approach it's still the team's fault for letting him stick with it for so long. The kid needs some damn guidance.
  13. It's difficult to get too excited over any of these guys. bump this thread in 2 years and we'll see what we have
  14. I bet they're eyeing the Colorado series for his return, coincidentally
  15. He looked the same. Curve might have been working a little better than usual. Command was still off. Approach was still 2SM heavy
  16. that's the sad thing, we really don't have much to offer. Maybe Pompey?
  17. assuming they are out of it and he's a free agent after this season, why would they care who got him?
  18. what would it take to get chapman from the yanks? Assuming they are out of it
  19. well yeah, I suppose he doesnt mean to throw them down the middle. He was clearly trying to bring it back on the inside corner and freeze him. But that can't be his approach with every 2 strike count, and it seems to be
  20. well, we've said it for ages, why on earth is he throwing a fastball down the middle with 2 strikes?
  21. Martin with a 1000 OPS over the last 2 weeks. What a beast
  22. you must have some sort of gut reaction about how attractive someone is when you see them. This isn't supposed to be very scientific, just rate how much you think they look good
