  1. Possibly could have been? Say it ends up kicking out to Tatis, with his arm could nail a slow Turner out at 3rd or Varsho at 2nd. Maybe the 3b coach jumps the gun and sends Turner home to get caught there.
  2. April 15 Vladdy - 1 Point Bichette - 2 Points Turner - 3 Points Springer - 3 Points - mphenhef Varsho - 4 Points Kirk - 5 Points Biggio - 5 Points - wilko Kiner-Falefa - 7 Points Kiermaier - 7 Points The Bench (Any PH): 10 Points - TCA
  3. Brendon Little 100% should have been the guy to go. Why they keep him over Zulu I don't know.
  4. Nelson Cruz signing a 1 day contract with the Mariners is a joke and is degrading to the idea of the 1-day contract.
  5. Possible he is back to pitching in 4 weeks. Then takes the full 30 days for rehab/innings build up. Would be treated like a fresh spring training.

  7. I don't really see a window closing. Vladdy isn't a superstar. He had 1 WAR and .789 OPs last year, we made the playoffs in spite of him, not because of him. Bo will hurt more to lose I feel, and it's not like there's a 0% chance we bring him back. The model the team is working with seems to be working, we just need some good luck in the playoffs, instead of bad.
  8. Fresh set of eyes? Player prioritization? Sounds like the Jays invested time/resources in him, maybe Cleveland wasn't doing that. They might have had higher priorities.
  9. I think you mean $3.2M saved. It's possible the offers were 1/9M paid now or 1/12M with the deferrals. So in the end it works out to the same hit for this year. Players(or atleast agents) aren't stupid, they understand a dollar now is worth more than a dollar 10 years from now, that will reflect in the total value.
  10. I wonder how often we see him at 3B. Especially if Votto bounces back.
  11. I personally think they should try holding onto Serven this season as the 3rd catcher for injuries. If he has an option year. I’ve seen him described as a premium backup type. He put a positive WAR with a wRC+ of 52 in 2022. That’s the type of defense first guy I want for a 3rd string catcher. If he’s able to step right in and make the pitcher feel comfortable right off the bat. Not all waiver type catchers can do that.
  12. It's not like it was just a one time thing either... According to ESPN, at least $4.5m (£3.5m) was transferred from Ohtani's bank account to a bookmaker. ESPN has said it reviewed bank information showing Ohtani's name on two $500,000 payments, one sent in September and the other in October, to a bookmaking operation run by Mathew Bowyer. Why would an interpreter have access to Ohtani's banking account? Their stories seem to have changed atleast once as well.
  13. This is one of those white collar crimes that won't hurt MLB's image, they'd be crazy to investigate Ohtani. They have their scape goat, that's enough. Now if it were to happen again, that would be a little harder to hide. No way they want to suspend Ohtani for life.
  14. Only thing I could find is... Even though the United States has an extradition treaty with Japan, most extraditions are not successful due to Japan's domestic laws. But ya, I don't see him coming back.
  15. Where is Mizuhara at the moment? Who's to say he even comes back from Asia. He'll just take his payout from Ohtani and live out his life of luxury in Japan.
  16. Looking at the 40-man it seems deep. I'm not sure who else would be an option. Wes Parsons maybe or possibly Zach Pop.
  17. This has no relation to my post to Term. Espinal was already off the 40-man at the time of my post. Obviously I was referring to next to make room for Votto.
  18. Brendon Little is probably the 1st to go off the 40-man.
  19. I'm surprised he hasn't started claiming GM's are conspiring against him.
  20. I just found out Tiedemann is actually Tariq Leni Tiedemann
  21. Boras really screwed over his FA's this year. 3 of his high profile clients are still free agents and it's almost the end of spring training.
  22. Not sure why anyone would be s*** talking a minor league deal like this. There’s no downside, but the slim chance for huge upside. Question is how much did the shoulder injury hurt him last year? The first 1/2 of month he came back from the DL he put up a 1.050 OPS. He obviously isn’t that good at this point, but his shoulder started acting up again, hard to point out when. I think health this year would be the deciding factor in what we’d get. I would not be all that surprised to see him put up a .800 OPS.
  23. Or even the Mets, Angels, Padres. They ran payrolls over the Jay’s and two were under .500, and one just barely avoided a sub .500 record. This team’s in good position I feel, they don’t really have any damaging contracts.
  24. Seems like a lot of ball players do this. Especially a lot of the older guys. They're replacement level and want to keep playing, but they can't seem to understand why teams are going with younger guys that at least have potential for upside.
