    Seems like MLB can only control who umps bigger games, like the World Series, maybe even playoffs? Hernandez tried suing MLB for racism because he wasn’t getting any playoff assignments.

    MLB has a contact with the umpire union I believe. He’s part of that union. MLB doesn’t have an individual contract with each umpire.

    If the Jays have a spot locked up going into the last day. Do they still throw Gausman on Sunday, or a minor league guy + bullpen game? If Gausman throws Sunday he’d have to throw on short rest to make game 3 of the wildcard round. If he’s held back he’d be on 6 days rest.
