Jays have nothing to lose. Sign Soto and extend Vlad, and your middle-of-the-order is set for the next decade.

I think his agent tries to get close to Soto money once he signs. Vladdy likely would be on board as well. I said this even a couple months ago that Vladdy doesn't even consider an extension until Soto signs. I even said it would be in the Jays best interest to re-sign Vladdy before Soto signs his crazy deal. Vladdy pretty much will be the top FA of the 2026 class. If he has another monster season in 2025, he likely could get close to Soto money if a team is desperate. But yeah, prefer the Devers contract as a comparable.

Not sure Verlander would want to sign in Toronto. Also, he looked completely toast this season. Like BTS said, he could very well get nuked every start kind of like Wainwright in his last season. Mad Max wouldn't be a bad target. He actually pitched decently in his 9 starts with the Rangers. But yeah think he prefers to re-sign with the Rangers. Not sure he would come to Toronto.

Lol good job at cutting out the first half of my post. If you actually read my original comment, I said ideally he gets something similar to Rafael Devers extension and even said $350M. Afterwards I said however his agent likely waits until Soto signs and uses that as a benchmark. Never said he should get $600 or so million or that the Jays should sign him for that much. Would obviously rather Soto at the same cost lol. Just that his agent likely waits until Soto signs before signing any extension.

MLB times during the WC and DS series always suck. Not sure why they can't put like two games on at 6 and 7PM, while the other two games at 9PM and 10PM, especially with one being in San Diego. Blue Jays would always get the worst times I remember, which would also hurt ticket resale values.

Yeah I think he waits until Soto signs and uses that as a benchmark. Ideally, something similar to Rafael Devers (10 year, $313,500,000 contract), so would say $350M over 10 years. Though think he waits on Soto and tries to aim as high.

There is no point in arguing with a brick wall. You're crapping on teams that were better than the Jays this season which is hilarious after numerous times saying that those teams would suck before the season started. Stop taking the blue pill or else you'll continue to remain in a state of blissful ignorance when it comes to this organization!

Stop changing the narrative. Nobody said the Jays were awful in 2022 or 2023. They were solid teams, though most of the criticism was that the front office did very little to address the issues plaguing those teams, when it was evident over a large chunk of the season that they had to improve in certain areas, but didn't. The Jays did it three years in a row? I thought they missed the Postseason by one game in 2021?

Yeah I don't think the Blue Jays would be able to even come close if they had all the injuries and bad luck the Braves had this season. Like heck, the Blue Jays lost the fewest games to the IL as BigCecil stated. This team just wasn't built well enough this season, that's the reality. The front office did a poor job. The Jays didn't suck because they lost Romano and because Swanson was awful. Yes it didn't help the cause, but they're not excuses.

Looked impossible to stop. They have so many weapons offensively! Still have Baltimore as one of the top teams to beat in the AFC. Bills are in the second tier behind them and the Chiefs. Chiefs didn't look good yesterday but still pulled out a win. I like the Ravens still better, but can never count out the Chiefs.

Haha would be cool. I could see Posey hiring one of the guys from the World Series years. Would be awesome to see Timmy or Bumgarner as pitching coach. Gotta hire Brandon Belt as 1B coach now as well haha.

I stated last year that I wish the Jays did more at the trade deadline to address the issues in the lineup for the Postseason. Never once criticized their rotation or bullpen last season and even said that's a strength. They definitely were a team that could have went on a run, but without any improvements to the lineup, didn't have my hopes high. I didn't expect that bats to all of a sudden turn around at Game 163 after they struggled heavily over 162 games. As well, nothing wrong in discussing the strengths of the D'Backs roster from last Postseason. Seems like when you talk about the strengths or have any discussion regarding any team, some of you lose it and freak out!
