I remember last year or two years ago there were some posters on here that said they wouldn't even trade Lawrie straight up for Stanton. Crazy! Sometimes I find a lot of young players on the Jays are overhyped on these boards. I was a fan of Lawrie and I still think he has enough talent to become a solid player. Though even two years ago, I wouldn't even have to think about trading Lawrie straight up for Stanton.

They really have to do something about the bullpen. I hate seeing McGowan and Perez just wasted down there - they are useless.

Last season his .OBP was .317, so hopefully he can get it into the .330ish range which is possible and tolerable with the power output he provides.

.513 SLG and 19 HR's! I'll take the 30 + HR's this season. Mark Trumbo last time I checked was never a .OBP machine. Also, Alvarez is capable of a Chris Davis breakout possibly in the next year or two. Not saying its a guarantee to happen, though its not out of the question. Both have tremendous raw power and high K rates/low BB rates.

Yeah the Canada Day game is sold out. Only singles available on the Jays site. Can get good seats for Tuesday or Wednesday night though haha. I expect weekend games, especially Saturday and Sunday games when the weather is nice, to be close to sell outs or 45,000 per game. I know 500 level seats yesterday were going for $40 each. Weeknights will always be easier to get seats - though if this team keeps this up, I wouldn't be shocked to see 30,000-35,000 + during the week come July/August.

That's a lot of money for any pitcher, especially one entering his mid 30's. The only way the Jays get Lee is that they move Buehrle and they don't give up much in terms of prospects. I'm sure the Phillies are looking for a package of top prospects if they decide to move Lee. I just don't see it happening, and I wouldn't want the Jays devoting $25 million of their payroll towards a pitcher in his mid 30s.

I think many posters including myself have been saying Chase Utley. According to some sources, the Phillies will shop Utley and Young hard at the deadline.

I agree, its pointless to move a younger third baseman like Lawrie + or let alone straight up for Headley. Like I said, I doubt a trade for Headley happens since the price tag is likely ridiculous. And its not like Headley is hitting that well this season anyways.

I think Ackely would be tougher to trade for instead of Beckham agreed. Mariners likely would ask for more. You likely could only flip Drabek + another piece for a struggling young player who has underachieved and has ran out of favour with their organization.

If the asking price for Headley is crazy, Lawrie + is likely a guy they'd want back since they would need a 3B back (though they do have Gyroko). Likely not worth it from the Jays perspective and I don't think they would do it.

Right now, I doubt they are sellers since things in the NL West are close. Though if they fall out of it near the end of July, they likely will. I doubt they move Headley unless they are blown away by an offer. Perhaps they move some outfield pieces/utility players or BP arms or a vet starter like Marquis.

I haven't watched much of Forsythe. How is his defence?

I think Headley would be expensive in a trade however, based on what he did last year offensively especially. Likely looking at something around Sanchez or Gose + I would have to think.

Yeah, the price tag for Cashner would be quite high especially since he's been great this year out of the rotation. I doubt the Jays are interested in Volquez, unless they plan on flipping him in a three way deal haha. The only guys that make sense are Headley or Forsythe. Grandal would be nice as well, though not sure the Padres would move him (though they do have Hedges). Give them JPA (a big power bat) in a deal for Grandal lol. It's a dream.

I doubt they were looking at Volquez. He would be an awful fit in the AL East. Maybe Chase Headley or Forsythe. Andrew Cashner would be a nice target, though doubt the Padres move him with the way he has been pitching this season.

Managers are meant to make the decisions which put players in the best position to succeed. The Blue Jays have won 11 straight not because of John Gibbons. The players on the Blue Jays (pitching, and hitting) have won 11 straight because they have been playing great baseball. It's the same with the slow start. It wasn't Gibbons fault, the team played awful. Not discrediting the role Gibbons has done. I think he's been great this year. But the Jays record is clearly an indicator of the way the players have performed.

I like Murphs bat, though defensively he's not the ideal player I'd want at second base.

I said something around Drabek. Both Beckham and Ackely's value have taken hits as well, and Drabek not too long ago was a highly touted prospect coming up similar to Beckham and Ackely. It's not out of the question. The Jays traded Travis Snider for Brad Lincoln last season, and I'm thinking Ackely and Beckham have similar value or maybe just a bit more due to the position they could play.

Beckham wouldn't be bad to take a chance on, or Ackely. I'd do something around Drabek, though not sure both those teams would be interested. Drabek would be a nice fit in Safeco thats for sure.

I think finding a decent bat and glove at 2B should be the main goal. Here are some realistic options that could be on the block (outside of Kinsler and Utley): Michael Young Rickie Weeks Jemile Weeks Gordan Beckham Daniel Murphy Dustin Ackely Howie Kendrick Young could probably be had at a decent price, but not sure he'd be a fit at 2B with the glove. The bat would be a nice improvement, though his defence is what worries me. Daniel Murphy kind of the same thing, but he's younger and might cost more from the Mets. Ackely, Beckham and Jemile Weeks would be guys to buy low on and you would have to cross your fingers that a change of scenario would spark their bats. Likely would have to give up something good, since I doubt those organizations give them up for nothing. If you could pull a Travis Snider/Lincoln type deal, like maybe trading a starter like Drabek etc for one of those guys, it could work. Oakland is rumoured to be shopping Weeks heavily, though their price has been expensive from what I've read. As for Rickie Weeks, he's been a huge disappointment though he does have a track record of success. Maybe a change of scenario sparks his bat. Kendrick likely would be expensive to pursue in a trade.

The Jays won't trade JPA for Brantly, thats for sure. Jason Castro from the Astros would be a nice target, though doubt that happens. I don't think the Jays really do anything behind the plate for the rest of this season. JPA and Thole are the guys they plan to roll with.
