  1. Ohtani pitches on Saturday.
  2. Hader hasn't been his dominant self this season, even when with the Brewers. 15.50 K/9 and 2.81 xFIP still though. Relievers can be very volatile, even the best of them. Brewers might have been smart trading him.
  3. Going back since the beginning of the Yankees series, Blue Jays starting pitching has been very solid. Most arms are pitching deep into games, other than White really. The starting rotation definitely has an impact on the rest of the bullpen day-to-day. Keeps guys fresh and that is definitely helping. Bullpen has been rock solid the past week, though lets see if this continues down the stretch. The Jays got lucky catching the Yankees in a rut and Boston isn't really a dangerous lineup to begin with. I wouldn't get overly excited and think the Blue Jays bullpen is miraculously amazing from this past week, though definitely encouraging to see. Starting rotation pitching well and that definitely has a domino effect.
  4. They're a great organization at building up roster depth. Trayce Thompson when he came up put up some decent numbers in 2015 and 2016. (1.4 and 0.7 WAR) He showed some glimpses of having some decent pop. Injuries over the years since have slowed him down. He was in the Dodgers organization before so that must have helped bringing him back and who wouldn't want to play for the Dodgers anyways? Plus his brother Klay lives in California as well haha. They definitely have got lucky with that pickup since he's provided positive value when he steps onto the field, both offensively and defensively (can play all 3 OF positions). Sometimes deals/pickups like this work in favor of the organization, sometimes they don't. An outfielder like Trayce Thompson was definitely worth rolling the dice on as a 4th outfielder given his skillset. He was on a short leash to begin with, so if he didn't work out, the Dodgers likely would have DFAd him instead of giving him 151 PAs. That's the difference between the Dodgers and what we see with the Blue Jays. Instead, the Blue Jays waste too many ABs on guys like Tapia or Zimmer which is a mistake since it hurts the club more than helps. Again, not saying these deals or signings always work out, though it goes to show you that you can target some interesting 4th outfielders/utility players during the offseason.
  5. Also, if he stays his entire career with the Royals, voters will probably consider how important he was to the franchise and them winning a World Series.
  6. Yankees are so stupid trading him. Bader hasn't even played for them yet and likely will be just be on the bench.
  7. Quick way to get 2000 followers haha
  8. Haha that's gold! Someone create one for Mark Shapiro!
  9. Think Madison Bumgarner is droppable now in 20-team leagues?
  10. Stroman is the biggest beta male in the MLB.
  11. People from BC have money haha. Those west coast fans will spend big money to see the Blue Jays in the Postseason.
  12. Gibby is the best!
  13. Home field would be nice in the wildcard round. Imagine if the Jays placed 5th and Seattle 4th. Would be a fun series at Safeco. Would be like playing in front of a home crowd.
  14. He probably figured best staying on the west coast and he probably has a better chance at building up his value again with a team like the Giants.
  15. I'm out in front of the Rogers Centre protesting! Bring back Ken Giles!
  16. Joe Carter. He hit that big HR in 1993!
  17. Taking 3 of 4 against the Yankees in New York, can't ask for anything more. Hope the Jays carry that momentum moving forward. Can't be losing to these teams below .500 down the stretch!
  18. Would be awesome to sweep the Yanks! Still taking 3 of 4 is huge! Manoah going tomorrow gives the Blue Jays a great chance and they already got Cole out of the way. If they were going to lose a game this series, would have thought it was going to be today.
  19. Should be a fun afternoon of baseball! Got a TV out on my patio, enjoying the nice weather and some Blue Jays baseball.
  20. Yup, they give these guys way too long of a leash. If they want give their fourth outfielder 4 to 5 starts per week, bring in someone who can be above average. Adding a 4th outfielder who you're comfortable giving 300-400ABs shouldn't be that difficult during the offseason. It wouldn't be a bad idea given Springer's fragility and in case another OF goes down. At the end of the season, it would be a shame if the Blue Jays missed out by the Postseason by only ONE game again. Shouldn't happen and if it does, you can point to this FO giving players like Tapia too much playing time and not properly addressing these needs during the offseason. You're battling for a Wildcard spot, against a team in front of you and against their ace. No excuses why Tapia and JBJ should be starting over Lourdes, Biggio or Merrifield, especially when Springer is out because he's banged up.
  21. This has been my issue with the team this season. They're wasting ABs on players like Tapia especially when hitting him at the top of the lineup. He shouldn't be playing this much even now with Biggio and Merrifield here. If Tapia is in the lineup, he should be batting at the bottom. Like you said, a team like the Blue Jays who are trying to contend for a Wildcard spot shouldn't be playing him as often as they have, especially when he also hurts you in the field as well. If the Jays miss out by one game again, it's because of the organizations incompetence when it comes to roster utilization and construction. I hope next season this front office realizes that guys like Springer are fragile and they need some adequate roster depth behind him and others. During the offseason, bring in a solid 4th OF who could play all OF positions and who wouldn't hurt you if he has to play for an extended period of time.
  22. Awful lineup today. Tapia shouldn't be batting leadoff. Shouldn't also have both Tapia and JBJ in the lineup. Shouldn't be sitting your starters against an ace like Gerrit Cole. I understand Springer since he's injured, though Lourdes or Merrifield should be out there or heck even Biggio who has 2 HR's off of Cole.
  23. Billy Hamilton will be leading off soon once the Blue Jays sign him!
  24. I might do the year subscription. Pay the one time and it's like getting two months free. Depends on how much sports I'll watch during the winter and spring next year. At least I'll get a lot of US Open coverage over the next two weeks which is why I'm thinking of getting it. In the winter, at least will have the Leafs, Raptors, some NFL games, CFL games and also the World Cup in November/December. So it's pretty much like Sportsnet Now. So you get all 5 TSN Channels?
  25. I'm thinking of signing up for TSN Direct. It's $200 for the whole year.
