  1. Astros likely won't want to part with Abreu for an injury prone catcher with only 2 years of control left. They probably view him as their next bullpen ace, closer of the future.
  2. I agree, though he's going to at least cost Kirk or Moreno + most likely. Plus, not sure if the Cards want to move him. Cards probably would be open to a Jansen/O'Neill swap since both have two years remaining and are similar type of hitters.
  3. Jake Odorizzi would have been a nice target as a No. 4 or 5 starter for depth. He picked up his player option before the trade and Braves are eating $10 of the $12 million which is pretty sweet. Rangers just had to part with Kolby Allard.
  4. If the Rays got rid of him, you know he ain't right.
  5. I think the Cardinals are a better fit for Jansen in terms of a trade partner. Cards have some intriguing OFs. Tyler O'Neill would be a great add and buy low if the Cards are willing to move him. I know he's a RHB, though if he's healthy he could provide a 5-6 WAR season from one of the corners. 2 more years of control, same with Jansen. Jays could then trade one of Teo or Lourdes for some pitching. Lars Nootbaar would be ideal since he's younger and has more control, though likely any deal would involve Kirk or Moreno. I think a Jansen/O'Neill swap actually works well for both clubs.
  6. Bichette isn't moving off SS anytime soon unless the Jays sign or trade for an elite proven shortstop where Bichette has no choice but to agree.
  7. As much as I would love that deal to happen, doubt the Astros part with Abreu as well especially since he's one of their younger BP arms and after the Postseason he just had. Urquidy + another young unproven raw BP arm with some upside more likely. To be honest, I think the Jays could go out and sign a similar arm as Urquidy in free agency. He's nothing that special.
  8. Astros also had one of the deepest rotations in baseball, which definitely helps the bullpen over the 162 game season since most guys aren't overused and taxed. Jays have Gausman and Manoah, and hope Berrios returns to his pre-2022 form. Add another legit starter or two, and a high K reliever, definitely will make a huge difference.
  9. Jamie Campbell just said "Justin Verlander celebrating with his daughter." I hope he wasn't referring to Kate Upton lmao.

    Leafs needed that or else...

Of course they've played amazing, they're 6-1 haha. I'm just saying there are some times during games where they make stupid and frustrating mistakes that likely could have a bigger impact against a top team in the NFL Playoffs or SuperBowl, though during the regular season they get away with. Bills will only beat themselves if they lose in the Playoffs. Otherwise, from watching this team, they're definitely the best team in the NFL right now. Only team really that is a threat would be the Chiefs. No other team in the NFC really scares me.
  12. Jays definitely tender him a contract for 2023, even if his salary is going to be around $15M. His trade value however is probably limited unless a team who is looking to contend and is in dire needs a corner OF power bat. I think Teo bounces back big in 2023. It's a contract year and I think we might see some new career highs in offensive categories. He's going to be extremely motivated and will want to sign that one big life changing contract in his career that sets his family up for the rest of their lives. Hopefully he puts up a 4-5 WAR season in 2023!
  13. In that case, Bryant isn't going anywhere haha.
  14. If the Jays have the money like you said, Marquez would be a good tradetarget. Even still, his salary over the next two season isn't too bad. Some upside with him if he returns to being a 3-4 WAR pitcher or more since he'll only be 28 next season. Depends on what the Rockies expect in a trade.
  15. Yeah exactly. Would rather spend that money if available on Rondon or Swanson. Doesn't make sense trading valuable assets for a dead contract and aging asset like Bryant.

I know they're 6-1, though they haven't been playing SuperBowl caliber football in most of their games. Even the game yesterday, they should have killed Green Bay like 50-10. Instead some sloppy play in the second half where Green Bay got the score to 27-17. Bills are by far the top team in the NFL. To me it's the Bills and Chiefs are 1A and everyone else is another tier below. Only way the Bills will lose in the Playoffs is if they beat themselves with some sloppy plays and decisions. Otherwise this team is destined to be a top team in the NFL for the next decade with Allen as QB.
  17. Can the Blue Jays afford to pay another aging bat $164M over the next 6 years though? I think Kris Bryant would be a great fit for the reasons you mentioned such as position flexibility and could move to third after Chapman leaves, though his contract is pretty steep for moving a player like Kirk with that controllability. I'm not even sure Bryant ever goes back to being a 7-8 WAR player like he was with the Cubs in 2015 and 2016. He likely settles in as a 4 WAR player at best moving forward. I don't think his trade value should be all that high given his age now, decline and contract. Who can the Blue Jays sign as a FA for 6 years at $164M this offseason? Probably that money is best spent elsewhere instead on Bryant.
  18. In terms of the Rockies as a trading partner for Jansen, only guy I would roll the dice on would be Germán Márquez, though he even worries me. Under control for two more seasons at 15M in 2023 and a team option at 16M in 2024. Moving out of Coors could help and he could return to being a 3.5-4 WAR pitcher possibly. If you think he can be a 3.5-4 WAR pitcher or more, he would definitely be a nice add for the rotation. Or he could be Jose Berrios 2.0 next season. Antonio Senzatela and Chad Kulh offer no upside whatsoever. Can easily sign FA starters and hold onto Jansen for another trade.
  19. Alvardo posted a 1.7 WAR with a 14.29 K/9 this season. When he was with Tampa, looked like he was one of the top young relievers coming up. He's no slouch. He's elite when he's on. Robertson is a bit wild agreed but high K rate has helped him. Seranthony Dominguez is very good. 27-years-old, 3.09 FIP, 10.76 K/9, 1.0 WAR this season. On a whole different level in the Postseason: 17.36 K/9. Andrew Bellatti had a solid year: 2.87 FIP, 12.92 K/9, 1.0 WAR. Connor Brogdon is also pretty good. Phillies relievers have higher K rates and we've seen that be successful in the Postseason. Jays have the closer advantage in Romano. No debate there. In terms of the rest of the bullpen, Phillies have higher K arms so I give them the advantage over the Jays in that regard. While close, stats even show Phillies BP was better than the Jays in 2022.
  20. Speaks volumes about the Cards as an organization.

Yeah I remember those early 2000 teams with Sundin, Mogilny, Roberts, Tucker, Domi, Corson, Renberg CuJo/Balfour, etc. They were veterans past their primes, but they played tough and almost came close to reaching the Cup in 2002. Gary Roberts was always awesome in the Playoffs!

Yeah it's such a shame that this team has done exactly nothing with the talent they have. Such a waste when you have superstars like Matthews, Marner, Taveras, and other elite talent around them. This team can't even get by the first round which is extremely disappointing. I don't think this team is capable of going on a deep Playoff run this season. On paper, I don't think the Leafs had this great of a core since the days in the early 90s. Even in the early 2000s, with Sundin, Mogilny, Roberts as a core, despite them being on the older side, they at least went deep into the Playoffs to the 2nd or 3rd round.
